I'd still wear a respirator, but considering the lack of wind (and that uranium dust is hard to get into the air/dissolve into the air) I think a short trip into the mind would do nothing.

Drug users, drug traffickers, and wild animals. Have come in close contact with coyotes in the past. Why would you not carry?

most uranium is an alpha emitter which is mostly harmless unless ingested.

A respirator and a closed mouth will leave you quite safe from Uranium. It will be hard for it to get in you any other... way...

The thing is that he's carrying it legally. Even though he's trespassing, any decently trained officer would likely request that he put the gun down first. I don't think it's going to get him into any more shit than the trespassing itself.
