I knew autodrive was gonna be a real thing one day and used for safety and collision avoidance, but to think they'd say "fuck it" and have some true fun with it is astounding. Google Drive has been dethroned IMO.

That's gotta be one of the worst looking paint jobs I've seen in my entire life.

I'm not sure how I feel about all these things cars can do themselves. Don't get me wrong, I think it's brilliant that engineers design cars that take the less desirable/more difficult parts out of life, because that's what progresses society (for example, going from smelly dangerous gas lamps to safer, easy electric lights). But at the same time, it's a shame that the skill needed for doing things is being taken out. With the invention of GPS navigation, not many people can read a map to save their life. (Again, don't get me wrong, I use a GPS too, but at least I know how to use a map). I see people who drive cars that automatically parallel-park themselves, and I just think it's a shame that when I ask said person, he can't parallel park without his car doing it for him. As driving gets easier, people become worse drivers. With the invention of disc brakes and ABS, people brake later and don't need to think about stopping until the intersection/thing in front is really close. Yeah, it's a great safety invention that has saved countless lives, but as life becomes more automated (at least to me) it gets more boring. At work, a floor-standing fan quit working on a hot day. Not a single person out of the 25 employees knew how to even take it apart to simply look if there's anything wrong, so of course as I unscrewed the cover, I was surrounded by 25 other people going "ooh aah" at the motor assembly. tl;dr Call me a traditionalist, but hey I'm all for the future; I love automated things (wouldn't it be great to have an ASIMO robot to just do stuff for you?). I just think it would be so much greater if people also kept the skills that were once needed. What's the point of drifting if your car will do it at the push of a button? As said in the Incredibles, "if everyone's special, nobody's special". As stuff becomes more and more automated, what's the point of our existence?
Cars driving themselves are not going to make them any safer unless everyone has a car that drives itself With that said, this is pretty cool
Cars driving themselves are not going to make them any safer unless everyone has a car that drives itself With that said, this is pretty cool
Just think if everyone has a car that drives itself. The cars could communicate to each other to know when to stop more precisely than just camera depth etc. Also this makes me want a bmw even more.
Now figure out hovercars.
