The coolest MMO you'll likely never play (Moonlight Blade)

Moonlight Blade is the spiritual successor to Age of Wushu/Wulin, has the traditional "themepark attraction-based" content but it also has some pretty cool sandbox PVP elements that really reminds me of Wushu and EVE in some ways.

It's possible this might come to the West, it's being shown to Western publishers in the next few months. If you do want to play, there's a huge English-speaking community despite the lack of an English translation. There's no international IP bans or anything like that and I get 200 ping (on the West Coast).
This is really a hidden gem and they don't know how to market it too well. Same thing happened with Wushu, everyone thought "oh, martial arts World of Warcraft, neat" but it was actually a huge sandbox similar to Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies and EVE when you got past the lengthy tutorial.
Here's a reddit post highlighting what's special

[sp]This is much better than Black Desert Online[/sp]
Well shit, I liked Age of Wushu back in the day so I guess I'll check this out.

The best thing about this is, it's ran by the Chinese equivalent of Google so it's extremely doubtful they'll go all Snail on us and shit the game up with some nonsensical P2W model (in the East).
What makes it coolest? Visually looks good but besides that it seems to be a generic mmo formula game.

Combat wise, it looks more like Dynasty Warriors or a character action game. That alone makes it look more appealing than some other MMOs. If it's anything like Age of Wushu in that regard, it certainly is more unique than it looks.

Wushu/Wulin style sandbox once you hit around level 30
Four faction PVP conflict with territorial systems
Custom build guild halls for use in massive guild versus guild warfare
Bounty hunting system similar to SWG
Political/law enforcement mechanics similar to EVE
Really in depth crafting/profession mechanics
As Fish said, it's certainly more interesting than it looks. That's what I'm hoping they really market this as, and maybe introduce it a bit earlier because a lot of people thought Wushu was a generic MMO as well.
doesn't look all that interesting other than the environment tbh
we'll see, but i don't see a 2.5s GCD with a combat like that working too well
I really like the 3rd video's music. Really good.
Those aerial acrobatics look kinda' fun.
Remember when Phantasy Star Online 2 was supposed to come to the west

It did. It's called Skyforge.
Every MMO by snail games makes me cry because of the bad Engrish localization. I'd rather just wait for Tree of Savior or Dragon's Dogma Online to come to the west.

It's not made by snail tho. It's made by Tencent, Snail is Age of Wushu.
Remember when Phantasy Star Online 2 was supposed to come to the west
I think the English website still advertises a 2010 release in the west and here I am going "Oh yay, they finally translated an item name after two weeks."

All my favorite MMOs are dead. Any of y'all remember Space Cowboys Online?

Good thing this isn't Snail then.
Only mmo I'm looking forward to is Crowfall.
Generic weab shit? Yeah, you're right, i'll never play it.

"Here's a bunch of reasons why it's not generic weebshit "
"It's weebshit"
but it wasnt even out yet in 2010?
some early date, can't be assed to remember v:v:v
Neat, but I already have A realm reborn to trial and Guild Wars 2 to complete. I don't need another cool MMO to ruin my life. v:v:v
whenever i see someone talking about some cool new mmo i look and it's just more of the same old themepark formula with a few bells and whistles. I expect when someone says something is actually different its going to be some big change but what's listed in this thread is at best some minor iteration. No surprise "mmo" usually just means WoWlike thesedays i guess.
come on we need more mortal onlines, face of mankinds, wurms and eves, try a different formula with the game this time damn you.

This has more in common with games like Mortal Online, Face of Mankind and EVE than World of Warcraft or Everquest to be honest. They're not 100% sandbox, but I think that should be reserved for indies. Why not have half developer created content and half sandbox to keep everyone occupied while waiting for the next wave of content releases?
Even Star Wars Galaxies had questing.

The combat system looks more like the standard themepark fare, at least. The thing i noticied that was most interesting was the jail/bounty thing but i wonder if it's done better than fom, which had good bounties but the jail was a silly system.
maybe im extra jaded because i started playing a themepark mmorpg not long ago after not having played one in awhile and its just as terrible as i thought it would be.
