I suggest you grab it while you can before it's gone. That C&D is probably coming.
I suggest you grab it while you can before it's gone. That C&D is probably coming.
The fact that it's on Google Drive means that the uploader did a better job making sure that nobody can get than a C&D would.
Someone on /v/ actually started tackling the online program and tweaking it for things like rudimentary Chat (via messages appearing in the game ala the log-in message) and such, and now Kaze's introduced him onto the team to continue helping with developing the mod.

i think it's downright incredible we can manipulate certain older games to this insane of a degree. forced multiplayer, especially online, in a game that previously didn't allow it has always amazed me. i can't even begin to fathom how you'd accomplish that.

If a player grabs a star that someone else does not have on their current active save, it marks it off accordingly, but it also doesn't sync the stars to the server host or anything (only way you're getting that is if everyone starts a brand new save just for the server at the same time). I imagine the next "big" thing is more user-friendly setup like player names and proper chat, before they really try to move onto syncing levels/saves and so forth. Also if you just want to play with the custom characters, you can host a server by just putting a random digit of any sort in the address bar and play with Yoshi or Wario or whoever in singleplayer without consequence. :v:
Apparently there's a way to get this to work with romhacks but the methods I've tried don't work
Looks fun as fuck, too bad I don't have anyone to play with
Update: The video has been removed, but they didn't request to take down the the actual hack, so you can still get it Also, It has been updated to v1.2
So is star sync in this? I got that impression from watching the beta tests but when I tried it with a friend our stars didn't stay in sync.
So is star sync in this? I got that impression from watching the beta tests but when I tried it with a friend our stars didn't stay in sync.
You both should start with the same .eep save file to make sure there's no desync. After that, it should be completely fine.
You both should start with the same .eep save file to make sure there's no desync. A friend of mine forgot to do that and had to grab that star himself afterwards.
Nintendo at it again with the copyright strikes.
lol who needs a Switch now.
lol who needs a Switch now.
truly this will be the end of Nintendo haha suck on it nerds [editline]16th September 2017[/editline]
i think it's downright incredible we can manipulate certain older games to this insane of a degree. forced multiplayer, especially online, in a game that previously didn't allow it has always amazed me. i can't even begin to fathom how you'd accomplish that.
Lets not forget that not only did it not have the ability to play online, but it was 2 generations behind before it'd even become a built in feature for all consoles.
Nintendo at it again with the copyright strikes.
Meanwhile, IGN's re-upload of the video is still sitting on YouTube, with Kaze as the top comment asking why would they just steal his video. At least the download has been left untouched since he made it its own program.

If anything it's less impressive because you don't have to synchronize things like complex physics from later games.
