I'm genuinely impressed "mansplaining" is used outside of tumblr. Good on him for turning it around and showing the hypocrisy in her logic.
so in response to his "patronizing and condescending" tone, she smugly claims he's mansplaining? neat.
There are people who actually use the term 'mansplaining' outside of Tumblr blogs? She should have been laughed out of that committee meeting.
"It is a word that is used and um i'm so surprised that ur shocked by the use of the word :downs: "
A bit rude of him to say that all Labour supporters are like that, it's kinda like saying all Liberal supporters are racist.
Laughing and interrupting somebody in an official proceeding to goad them and say "I'm loving the mansplaining.." isn't condescending? lol, what are they, dating?
"It is a word that is used and um i'm so surprised that ur shocked by the use of the word :downs: "
Watching her squirm as it slowly dawns on her that she is the only one who knows what the fuck mansplaining is was great.
"It is a word that is used and um i'm so surprised that ur shocked by the use of the word :downs: "
The n word is "a word that is used" too. I mean, this obviously isn't nearly as bad, but "this is a word that some people say sometimes" is not reason to use said word.
Bitch and nigger are words that are used too Can he start using those
Bitch and nigger are words that are used too Can he start using those
Well it is Australia. Cunt is a pretty common word that is used down under. :downs:
I'm genuinely impressed "mansplaining" is used outside of tumblr. Good on him for turning it around and showing the hypocrisy in her logic.
Tumblr? I am 100% sure Mansplaining is from fucking Wonder Woman
Tumblr? I am 100% sure Mansplaining is from fucking Wonder Woman
Y'know, I'm not sure if this is a joke or not.
Just hearing the word "Mansplaining" being used seriously makes me wince; let alone in a professional environment like that. Why couldn't she just say "condescending and patronizing tone" in the first place?
"Its a word that people use" Doesnt make it appropriate to use it in that environment. Is it okay for me to go around screaming kike nigger bitch spook spic cunt wetback gook slope faggot? No, because its not appropriate. Extreme example but thats where the logic goes. Words are words but that doesnt make it okay to use those any word you want whenever you want and expect it to be okay to say. Act with some professional merit if you're in any kind of governmental position, please.

She uses the word "Mansplaining" and explains it as "condescending and patronizing tone", not even bringing up the "Man" part of the word. It was definitely not appropriate to use in that setting, although "mansplaining" is definitely a thing that happens, and so is "womansplaining" although to a lesser degree. It's a condescending way of speaking to someone who you assume to be unfamiliar with a subject strictly because of their gender. Women might womansplain to a man about makeup, and a man might mansplain to a woman about computers.

I mean your example outright suggests the notion of gender roles/preferences which frankly most people using the term wo/mansplaining would argue against.

"Fucking abysmal retarded idiotic cock-gobbling ass-licker" is also probably used somewhere but I don't think I should use that in a political discussion
i didn't even know the word exists until now
What a bitch. :v:
I'm pretty sure this is an unparliamentary term, he could of raised that as well to shut her down
It was definitely not appropriate to use in that setting, although "mansplaining" is definitely a thing that happens, and so is "womansplaining" although to a lesser degree.
What? There is no such thing as Mansplain or Womansplain, it's called Explaining, when it comes to talking down to someone, it's condescending.
It's a condescending way of speaking to someone who you assume to be unfamiliar with a subject strictly because of their gender. Women might womansplain to a man about makeup, and a man might mansplain to a woman about computers.
There is a word for this, it's called being sexist, a jerk, an asshole, a bigot. [editline]12th February 2016[/editline] Heck, you even used Condescending. If anything, Wo/mansplaining is just another word for Condescending, but all prettied up when people want to be "progressive" and to "not" be sexist. It's just another Buzz word, and a shit buzz word.
wow it's almost as if a fucking tumblrism isn't acceptable wordage for a political context
Y'know, I'm not sure if this is a joke or not.
It's not. What an empowering moment in comics, right?
