It's a 45 dollar update.

The new Lara looks so bad! If that is going to be the model for the sequel, I'm not going to buy it. The original looks amazing, and made me connect to her character and personality. They took out the sex appeal and added in a realistic, interesting, normal looking girl. The new one looks like she got botox and has permanent eye shadow on. Why is she orange?!
she looks orange because there's new lighting??? [editline]14th January 2014[/editline] did you completely skip over the video or what?
she looks orange because there's new lighting??? [editline]14th January 2014[/editline] did you completely skip over the video or what?
If the new lighting engine makes people glow orange, I'll pass. In the video, he said it was supposed to make people look more realistic. That looks less realistic to me. Everything else looks nice though.
Doesn't look bad, texturewise it does seem a significant improvement. I just prefer the 'original' look though.
You know, I'm not gonna lie, a lot, maybe even all of it, is very impressive. Puts me in very high hopes for the possibilities of this next generation. As for the game itself, why oh why couldn't this have been done with a game that people actually want, like The Last of Us or something?

To me, it's just a slightly remodeled face (For the worse) and more contrast. And they want $60 for that? Even from people who paid $60 when it came out already? There's no differences worth that. It's just a port which is fairly easy since TR released for PC. Probably doesn't even count as a port the way we'd normally do. All I did was slightly change the Contrast and it looks the same. Yay $60

if i went in photoshop and pressed ctrl+l and ctrl+b and messed around for 10 minutes i could replicated most of the major and most striking differences between the two versions personally i prefer the lighting in the ps3 version. way more subtle. the contrast in the ps4 version is horrible

change a couple values is a simple excuse to release it full price again. Thought everyone knew this
huh, i must be one of the few that likes the higher contrast to me it looks washed out with the lowered contrast. [t]http://i.imgur.com/GLH7ywK.png[/t] the eyes always look off on the definitive version, it's closer to the uncanny valley on the screenshots i've seen
So really, for people playing the game it's like a $45 update to have a new filter. Obviously if you've played the game before you aren't going to buy a more expensive version and play it again. It doesn't even look that much better, you see just about the same stuff from a GTA IV ENB

As for her "orangeness," the original Lara here looks kind of like a wax model with dead eyes. The new one actually looks like it has blood flowing underneath the skin and the eyes have some proper depth now.
The PS4 version still doesn't look as good as The Last Of Us on PS3, not the greatest of upgrades.
Is this getting a PC release? Seems like stuff they could pretty easily patch in as well [editline]14th January 2014[/editline]
To me, it's just a slightly remodeled face (For the worse) and more contrast. How come people are so upset about this? It's an improved version, but it's essentially a new game for the PS4 and xbox one...so I mean...it being highly priced makes sense I think.
And then the dev team gets sacked because Square Enix will be a bunch of stupid hacks again and expect everyone to buy the graphical upgrade, then get mad even if it breaks a million because it's not two million. Or hopefully since they're not doing as much work as making the game from scratch, they'll get a profit and Square Enix won't get mad. I hope it's the latter.
No no, they'll reassign the team to make garbage mobile games that no one wants.

It's a few graphical things added, and some little touch ups to some parts. There is no new content, there is no story additions. It's the same game, with a different face, for the price of what it was originally released as.

Kind of cool to see TressFX on a console. Although, for some reason in their video this scene looks worse on PS4 than PS3
Even though TressFX is a good piece of technology, it doesn't really work in the context of the game. I remember how there's a part where Lara's completely covered in blood, but since the TressFX hair has only one look the entire time, it made it look like this: [t]http://www.blindnero.com/pictures/tr-10/TombRaider-2013-013.jpg[/t] With the default hair, it would be all bloody and stuff, but I think the TressFX was added on late in development without much thought, so they kinda just forgot about stuff like grime and dirt, which was prevalent the entire game. Maybe they changed it up for this though, I dont know
is this still worth picking up for the people who have a PS4 and have not played this game at all?

Reminds me of the "next-gen" mode in tomb raider legend pc, but it requires money instead of being free. Also I played this game a little bit at the beginning and I didn't like it one bit, It just didn't feel like the others (legend, anniversary, underworld) Not even on same engine anymore. And the rain of qtes is what killed it for me, uninstalling it after I played for what, like 15 minutes. This is why I also prefer the Assassins Creed games now.
