The man was way ahead of his time
that "YEAH!" at 10 seconds was perfectly timed
I used to think George was the greatest thing ever but if I watch him now, especially his later work, he kinda depresses me. Yeah, he's funny, but he's just brutally pessimistic about the issues he talks about.

Just submit to misanthropy and anti-natalism.
It's fun.
okay maybe it's not
I wonder if he would have liked Bernie.
Shit son, Mr. Conductor can really get angry at times.
I guess the only thing I would dispute is his point that they come from American homes, schools and businesses. If America is anything like here then the most of the politicians we vote for come from a completely different world. Judging by your most recent election that's definitely a thing in America.
Otherwise, I'm not gonna say I outright disagree with him.
I used to as well, but I dont find him depressing whatsoever. Just horribly jaded, out of touch and irrelevant. His rants are nicely worded, poignant, but ultimately he makes me cringe more often than he makes me think.
Listening to a person just insult vaguely connected things with the only punchline ever being "but they dont give a shit about you" is very tiresome. Bill Hicks was much more charismatic and authetic and they shared the same theme of hopelessness and jaded humor. The difference is I can still watch Hicks as an adult and even relate to him, while Carlin just remained the definitive go-to guy for angsty disenfranchised teenagers.
Carlin was really more of a product of the 70s. That's when he got really big, because there was a lot of pessimism in America thanks to Watergate, Vietnam, a stagnating economy and an oil crisis. George just kind of fit that time period, and it shows.
Was he though? We've had good leaders in the past. Just because they aren't around now doesn't mean they are some kind of impossibility. Just because you've failed at something doesn't necessarily mean you were doomed to fail all along.
I really dislike his kind of attitude. It's somewhat whiny; proclaiming that all politicians are equally awful just so that you can stick your thumbs up your ass and complain rather than have to take any kind of half-measure.

Honestly, this seems really arrogant. Like "I'm the only one who realises how terrible we really are" sort of stuff.
Hes funny, but I dont worship him like some do. Many think of him as the ultimate philosopher, I dont think so.
I prefer camus and Carl Sagan, carlin is unfairly cynical to too many things.

He says he isn't better or different, and even admits that he is a dissapointed idealist deep down.

I still consider it enough to be arrogant just to imply that he is the only one who realises 'what people are really like'.

He says he is "one of the people with a notebook" not the only one.
