I think Matt is just really bad at video games.
It's a mix of improv and set ups, doesn't stop it being funny.
These videos have lost their charm for me.

I have no idea whether Matt is just playing a character that's bad at video games or not, because in the let's play that's currently running on their personal channel he finished the game a while ago despite there being some sadistically hard parts in it... Yet he still manages to act stupid and forget vital information, like how to dodge in the game.
They act like that for their Machinima stuff, in their personal releases on TheSw1tcher they're all really good at games, mainly fighting games. Like in their Street Fighter Third Strike video where Pat was trying to block Chun-Li's super and then Matt did it perfectly, that was staged.
