Game of the Year 1995
Every time i see this game, it looks worse and worse. It looks worse than ReBoot, which was the first fully 3D TV Show. The PS1 was capable of producing better looking games. The only thing that even comes close to looking this bad are those Pixar rip-off films.

I know some people are saying that to be ironic but reboot 100% actually looks better than R60 somehow
like how do you fuck that up
asset flips and unfinished games don't count of course, but r60 is like, the WORST LOOKING game I've seen ever
at least even bad rats had an artstyle that wasn't painful to look at

ReBoot made the most of what it had for its time.
R60, on the other hand, seemed to actively try to give the impression of "this is a video game". If they didn't, their target audience might have gotten confused about why their movie kept pausing and the play button was replaced by these increasingly menial puzzles.
Either that or nobody on the team understood what a graphics pipeline was. Shaders, ambient occlusion, bump mapping, fog, you name it: all that was just fluff that got in the way of the real experience.
The reason why Revolution 60 looks so bad is because it was initially an iOS game
The reason why Revolution 60 looks so bad is because it was initially an iOS game
So were the Infinity Blade games and they look infinitely better than this, from both a design and tech perspective when they're both on the same engine. This is a garish hell, with little regard to design or color sensibilities.

yeah tribal tattoos on every inch of everything is huge on iOS.

not an excuse for it looking so ugly tbh.
aren't the tribal tattoos there to give detail where none exist
This thing looks worse than those shitty mock-up games you see in procedural cop shows.
Hell, it probably plays worse too. Every time the dudes on CSI and whatnot play a videogame they're furiously mashing buttons like they're playing Revengeance on meth, but here you just type words, lazily hop from a square to another, and occasionally push the spacebar.

You know a game is shit when it gets overshadowed by something that does not exist.
aren't the tribal tattoos there to give detail where none exist
It's basically this. Brianna Wu designed all of the characters and she has absolutely no idea on how to actually do that, resulting in all characters having fundamentally the same shape, their silhouettes only separated by the hair, which, due to these being based on awful fucking pseudo-manga styles, look like wigs. Her only way to add "complexity" to a character design is therefore to just throw in some tribal tattoos on both the character's eyes and the paintball gear clad enemies.
It requires some actual effort to make something look as bad as this. Like, they hired people who were PROFESSIONALLY bad at making games
This game looks so bad it makes Reboot's CGI look up-to-date.
Chances of success are 3 in 7 in a sequence that is literally impossible to fail.
Who's responsible for this
For those of you who haven't seen the full piece of Chris's fan art for the game:

Beautiful
Who's responsible for this
IIRC, some girl named Brianna Wu? Gamergate person.

I don't know about that, I think pretty much every game gets overshadowed by Fuck Shit Up
The reason why Revolution 60 looks so bad is because it was initially an iOS game
I refunded R60 and wanted to give a review on it before I did but Chrome crashed so I didn't wanna retype it. One of the points I had mentioned was yes, this is originally an IOS game but if you're porting it to PC, it's completely fair game to judge it by PC standards
A lot of people focus on the 3D models for why this game looks terrible - it's not just that, the UI is ugly too. If you hover over a button, nothing happens and this is very subjective criticism but I like it when buttons get bigger/change colour/do something when you highlight them to give feedback
I don't hate Brianna Wu and think a lot of the trolls on the game's Steam forum discussion are sad but the game just is not very good
Okay I admit the Helvetica bold line made me smile
ReBoot made the most of what it had for its time.
tbh I get the feeling the creators knew the problems they had and worked within them to try and create a specific style.

this isn't an excuse because even for iOS standards the game looks dreadfully bad
the reason it looks so bad is because the developers have the artistic integrity of a monkey and don't understand what human flesh looks like, let alone a face

and hey, these are somewhat recent so there is that, but lets be fair, this is on PC, so it should be judged by PC standards.
Here is my own standard
1. is it painful to look at?
if you fail this you already lost the graphics test
I should have rephrased my statement, the reason why R60 looks so ugly is not solely because it was an iOS game. :v:
It's not even hard to make something look good with low poly. Just look at Minecraft. That game looks fantastic and it's all cubes.
This lady just has 0 artistic abiltiy or creativity.

tbh minecraft is a bad example, since it kind of uses the textures it had pre-alpha. Ironically, it still looks way better.
lets look at SMarioS instead

to this day it looks really nice. Merely upping the resolution and adding AA will fix the game and make it look really decent. This game was released in 2002. It's 2016. It's better looking than most indie games, though not as impressive as it's AAA equals.
hell you don't even need graphics to make a game look good

Limbo looks good and it's in black and white
and then there's glover

very low poly, still looks alright. It deals with hardware limitations hardcore, yet still looks easy on the eyes
It looks like a source map with mat_fullbright set to 1
That's some impressive attention to detail on the ballsack hair.
I knew I heard something familiar. The music about halfway through the video is also used in Wargame: Red Dragon. They must have licensed it from the same company.
