I hooked up a webcam to an old laptop, pointed it out my window and set the program "Dorgem" to take a picture every five minutes. I had to use a program to rename all 2228 files in a way that put them in chronological order, though if I used Webcam Timershot (Only works on XP) I would be able to skip that step. Awesome.
Pretty neat. Web cam seems low res, but who cares? Timelapse videos are so awesome.
I liked how the snow on the roof melted away every day
I'm gonna go try this, holy shit.
The cam is way too low res. Would have been 300% more awesome if it was in HD.

The camera was $5 If anyone wants to try this out, you can download Webcam Timershot here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TimershotPowertoySetup.exe Then to turn it into a movie file, use PhotoLapse: http://home.hccnet.nl/s.vd.palen/ I just threw it into Windows Live Movie Maker to put on the music and make the size smaller (If you're going to do this, export an uncompressed file from PhotoLapse, THEN use the compression in an editor).
Where do you live? It looks really "Scandinavish", Since the daytime is so short. The music is really fitting. You should really make one more when it's summer. Cus this one was beautiful.
Fucking great video. Someone else should do this also.
That was actually one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. Good job!
Music from Osmos I hear.

If you bought the game from their site you can get a free download of the entire album, plus a PDF and Album art. They also have a Mac version you can download for free too (If you bought the game from their site).
reminded me of paranormal activity
UPDATE: I have a Sony DV cam setup in the room directly above me, again, it's going to be running for a week and the resolution is still 320x240, though I think night shots will be better. It's also warming up a bit so you'll be able to see snow melt. I also have it taking a picture every minute, rather than the 5 times per minute.
Grate.. to bad i dont have a web-camera... just a system camera... if you only could link it up so it would work like a web-camera..
I always love watching time lapses.
I live in Northern Ontario, the days in the winter are very short.
Pssh, no one lives in northern ontario.
Hmm, I might try this. I've got an old PC, a webcam, and some time.
I would've shat my pants if suddenly a guy would've been looking at the camera really close.
I wonder if there is any way I can set up my HD SD Camcorder to do this.
you should try take a picture everyday at the same time for 1 year. Would be awesome.
Awesome, but as has been said, too blurry to really enjoy it.
I wonder if there is any way I can set up my HD SD Camcorder to do this.
Check and see if you can hook it up as a webcam, my brother's camera is able to. Here is a sample image of the upcoming timelapse: Much less blurry.
wait how big was the file, I mean 6 days of footage?
wait how big was the file, I mean 6 days of footage?
The video file after being compressed with Windows Movie Maker and with the audio was 32 MB. All the pictures totaled around 89 MB. The pictures were small and low quality, I think the new photos being taken from the MiniDV camera are about four times as big.
funky
I would totally do this, however, the view outside my window..is a wall. Nothing very exciting ever happens :/
I have a nice view from my window and it's forecast to snow soon. I might do something like this. I already have some timelapses on my youtube.
