very interesting. didn't know there was a word for the shit you see while rubbing your eyes lol
So the phosphenes you see when you press against your eyes are kind of like when you press too hard on your phone, right?
Alright, this was informative. However i have an unanswered question, what the hell is it when you see random flashes of light? Does doctor facepunch happen to have any idea whats up with my eyes?
I can't say I've ever seen the first two
I usually get a gray-ish diamond pattern in my eyes when I rub my eyes too hard or lose too much pressure suddenly and lose vision Something like this, but I have never been able to research much about it
I get something like that, but it's circles instead.
i've been slowly figuring out that i have exploding head syndrome, but it wasn't the sound that made me realize that but the flashes of light. while lying in bed and drifting into sleep, i occasionally see what looks like a bright light flashed onto my closed eyelids and hear a fairly loud popping sound, like someone popped a plastic bag.
Normally whenever I press my eyes too hard I see something like a giant cluster of stars that sort of breaks off. Eventually it looks like I'm flying through space (which a ten year old me would use for great amusement) I really wish they talked more about visual snow. It's the most annoying thing for me - anything beyond four feet looks like a blizzard.

I'm sure that was a smart and healthy thing to do!

I've recently started getting ocular migraines occasionally. For those who don't have them, it starts as a small blind spot, which grows into what looks like a slightly larger jagged tear in your vision, filled with static. Mostly just irritating, as I don't often get the headache that accompanies it.

Get more of the oil slick variety of phosphenes, only it's really subtle because it's mixed in with visual snow, whenever I awake and feel drowsy still.
Whenever I close my eyes I get a huge blue/yellow ring that appears which fades between different color spectrum. At the same time I'll have some actual hallucinations occurring which show up thanks to my schizotypal disorder, and those always have some really cool things going on. Once I actually had a full panorama view of a vector-scape battlefield. It was like that one tank game in the 80's, but instead of seeing from first person, I was watching over the whole ordeal and got to see an RTS in vectors. That image sorta makes me desperately wish for someone to make an RTS based on green and black vectors. Seems like it would do pretty well tbh.
I've never seen floaters

First time it happened to me it sounded like the HL2 .357
I've never seen any of these except stars, when blood rushes to my head.
I recently experienced possibly my first occular migraine and the blind spot actually made me think i was going blind, was not a great experience.
In the shower when I tilt my head back and let the water rush over my eyelids, I see ripples of light and dark radiate out from the center of my vision. Pretty cool - it's become so commonplace that I actually freak out a bit if I don't see it.

I never get the headaches either, but it usually happens soon after I wake up. I can barely read anything and there's blindspots everywhere. Lasts what feels like quite a long time-- it always spooks me and is also very annoying. Also less related to eyes and more other things; I have irregular heartbeat issues, and there's been times where it just straight up stops for half a second before resuming with a THUD. Well one time it did far worse, it didn't stop, but instead it had a massive spasm, a "flutter" if you will, and I completely lost my eyesight for a good 1-2 minutes. When it started to come back, it was an explosion of super bright patterns and auras slowly revealing my vision once more. The whole experience was terrifying.

I started noticing this probably about 4 years ago. I usually get them when I'm really tired and go to bed late. I always get them when I'm on the verge of falling asleep and my eyes are closed, and then all of a sudden I hear a loud noise and see lots of visual static for a brief moment.
I wish I could have migraines with none of the headache. Whenever I get a blind spot in my vision, I get nervous and wonder if I just stared at a bright light or I'm going to have a hell of a headache again. On top of that I recently realized that I have visual snow. Oh well. It's only bothersome in dark environments, but I wager if I had confided to my parents about this problem years ago, the standard response would've been "Well son maybe you should toy less with those camputors you cunt"
A migraine is a headache. A really bad ome. Most people who get migraines don't have visual disturbances.

For the longest time as a kid I've seen floaters and phosphenes but I didn't have the clue on how to explain it. One time I told my parents they looked like parasites and made them flip out. I don't believe to have experienced visual snow before, but I have been able to see haze on extremely hot days which is a sign for me to head inside withe the AC on.
I don't think I've ever seen phosphenes, and now I'm really curious but at the same time somewhat reluctant
whenever I see that first spot in my vision I know I'm in for a day of pain.
every once in a blue moon I'll get a visual migraine where you've got that staticky rainbow in a huge crescent around the outside of your vision. this isn't exact to my own situation but imagine it on the right side, thinner, and a way larger radius. [t]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fo139jYAFzA/hqdefault.jpg[/t] I first got it when I got hit in the face with a falling box, the edge of which nailed my eye. I thought it legit dented/gouged some material off the lens but it went away after a day or so
They didn't talk about Chronostasis When you glance at an analog clock and the second-hand seems to freeze a bit longer for the first tick.
I've been seeing floaters for ages, not so much now, but i do see these rainbow particles flying around in a pattern from time to time if i focus on nothing, now i mostly see it in a auqare in the centre of my vision.
I see visual snow really easy just by closing my eyes, strange she didnt mention that because the pitch blackness really helps it show up. Has anyone noticed how when you close one eye it kinda turns off more than displaying blackness. You don't really see anything, idk if that's just me though.
