I really want to play rollecoaster tycoon classic on this now
Linus better stop doing those CLICK HERE faces for thumbnails, it's getting annoying.
Honestly that seems like one of the very few smart phone accessories that's worthwhile and then some. Hell it could work great for PCs as well if Sony writes support for it or somebody gets it hacked within a week (presumably it only connects via mini-HDMI and USB OTG)

[editline]10th January 2017[/editline] Not really an accessory at all.

Yeah it's confirmed a prototype for now and the only connections are power as far as it seems. I feel that HDMI/USB (or just HDMI/Bluetooth) are going to be the connection methods.
I still don't think it's designed to be connected to a phone really still. That's not the impression I got at least.

I love the idea. My complaints rest with the firmly late-00s approach to case design here. This thing is going to look out of place in most environments. It's too computery, too high-tech. I think taking cues from Google Home, Amazon Echo, or any of the design-forward devices meant to be tucked away on a shelf or countertop would be a good idea. Make it a small, round-edged rectangle skinned in white or light grey polypropylene, and you've got something incredibly versatile that can fit in a range of interiors. You risk being more generic, but in the case of something like this, where content should be front and center, fading into the background is a good thing. Sony has great designers working for them. The original PS4 is magnificent, PS VR is creative. Their Vaio line was always decent. Their home electronics are good. There's no excuse for this being so lackluster, aside from it being a prototype.
I wonder if it'd be good for using as emulation machine.
Looks pretty cool It'd be nice if you could proyect stuff from other android phones
