I don't get why they would keep those crazy borders like that around. Seems like a hassle, or maybe it's more hassle to fix 'em.

It probably dates back to the HRE and its cultural, religious and language differences. guess thats why they drew it up like they did during the treaty.
I know ill probably be rated dumb for this, but west "phalia" :v:. Also Scott Manley is so amazing and his voice is irresistible to not listen to. I have to admit, i liked this episode thou because it taught me that there's a place in this world where one side is one country and the other is another country.

Yes, however this isn't really a Scott Manley thread.

The guy in the video brought up tourism which is a good point. People want to come by to see it for themselves. In the US we have a region where the corners of 4 states meet at a single point. People wanted to put an arm or leg in all four of the states at the same time so we built a monument to make it easier for them.

I could be completely wrong but isn't that monument not in the actual right place?
[editline]2nd June 2015[/editline]
Oh yeah it isn't, sort of:
Even after the mistakes in the reports were discovered, a spokesperson for the U.S. National Geodetic Survey admitted the monument is placed 1,807 feet (551 m) east of where modern surveyors would mark the point.
