They did it. They adapted the dog part.
This is not going to be good.
Al actually looks pretty good, everything else... not so much.
Please tell me they at least have the sense to adapt only a small fraction of it.
Al actually looks pretty good, everything else... not so much.
that's the weird part, the majority seemed passable in live action terms and then al just looks like a 1:1 rotoscoped copy straight from the anime
Can't be worse than death note.
Can't be worse than death note.
It won't be terrible, but everyone is just going to say it's pointless and you might as well watch the anime instead.
This is not going to be good.
If they don't try to do a straight translation of the anime to live action it might be good?
Can't be worse than death note.
My favorite part is how Netflix Original's Death Note was randomly adapted to generic America (poorly.)
And now we have good ol' pseudo-Germany FMA with this cast. Which I mean, it looks schlocky and that blonde hair just does not work, but at least it's seems to be following the original story?
Oh god it's the worst
Film filmed in Japan has japanese actors, big surprise.

AS if that's the biggest problem

Well I mean, this is filmed in Asia and has asian actors as a result. Netflix didn't actually make this, apparently its already aired in Japan and is now just going to be a Netflix Original.
What Netflix did with Deathnote was clearly just trying to get bonus points with Diversity.
They did it. They adapted the dog part.
No shit? It's a crucial part of the plot and is referenced multiple times over the entire series.
How is this remotely a surprise.
When has live action anime ever been a good idea
My god, did they really use that thumbnail?
When has live action anime ever been a good idea
There's plenty of anime and manga that can transition smoothly into live-action. There's just also plenty that can't.
You could probably still sorta make Full Metal Alchemist work in live action if you had a very pragmatic approach to it and and had a fairly large budget, neither of which Japanese films tend to have.

Not technically anime but the live action Phoenix Wright movie was great

Agreed! Aside from (imo) an unnecessarily long runtime I thoroughly enjoyed the Ace Attorney film. Shame they didn't do a sequel, I was kind of hoping/expecting one.
The Silent Hill film isn't bad either, a somewhat convoluted plot but I can appreciate what it was trying to do.
I think there is definitely potential for live action adaptations of many pieces of media, just people go about it the wrong way I think.
I heard that it's good from the people that saw it.
looks like your average japanese live-action adaptation of a manga
I don't think it look too bad as far as live action anime adaptions go.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense. I was having some Deja Vu with the trailer and didn't look into it at all.

The anime this is based on is fucking magical.
How are they gonna handle the actual racial stuff in FMA i wonder considering its all japanese actors.
I still want del Toro's Monster adaption to happen.
Licensing sucks.
-snip- I'm dumb

I thought the Hell Girl live action was fairly neat, if far creepier than the Anime one

it's not a surprise but HOW DARE THEY MAKE ME RELIVE THAT
Is it just me, or is Al in some scenes an actual physical piece of armor, and in some completely CG? Why do they keep switching it?
