Ever wonder what happens when YouTubers visit a small community? Wonder no more.
I sooo agree it this. Legit cancer in VRChat.
kinda sucks since vrchat was super chill a couple months ago
Public instances are definitely getting worse every week. The other day I went to the hub and saw a dude who's avatar was literally just a picture of a decapitated corpse.

He said 'he guys, check this out' and switched to that image, but thankfully I was only glancing at it and didn't really see anything.
With the population of the game increasing 50% each week because of streamers and youtubers trying to hit the same kinda gold Jameskii did, I've been seeing waaaaay more assholes trying to be the next "hey lookit me i'm a funny dab guy with a craaaaazy avatar!" I'm really hoping this sudden population bubble will pop soon, allowing for a normalized playerbase count and to allow the VRChat team enough time to improve their servers and moderation system in case the amount of players gets this high again in the future.
Pokelawls has been one of the big players on twitch in regards to vr chat. Then bigger streamers like Lirik and Sodapoppin have been playing it and bringing loads of shitheads
Don't forget Pewdiepie who made two(?) vrchat videos a while back.
the good news is that it will eventually die off and you'll have your cozy small community again
how do the servers work in this game/what does the server landscape look like? can't you hop onto smaller ones when the one you're in gets overwhelmed by obnoxious kids?
the good news is that it will eventually die off and you'll have your cozy small community again
As vr starts become more and more popular its going to be the opposite.
They should just disable non VR client and solve most things.
kinda sucks since vrchat was super chill a couple months ago
Yo dunno if im out of the loop but is there a facepunch world yet? You can load into a custom world on statrup using a command line argument.
Yo dunno if im out of the loop but is there a facepunch world yet? You can load into a custom world on statrup using a command line argument.
i dunno, but a lot of people load into the old hub instead, which should be a lot more relaxed
Looks like this is going to need support for passworded community servers very soon. Though unfortunately the spontaneity seen in Jameskii's videos will probably never return since the public areas are going to be creeps and unoriginal memelords trying to be the new Brochacho. My friends have been playing it and apparently it's been getting noticeably worse the past few days.
how do the servers work in this game/what does the server landscape look like? can't you hop onto smaller ones when the one you're in gets overwhelmed by obnoxious kids?
You could just open your own world with various levels of privacy. Some options include friends and friends of friends, which is pretty good to keep a relatively small base of people but still have open doors.
They should just disable non VR client and solve most things.
Not all desktop users are trolls, but all trolls are desktop users.
I knew this would happen when these videos started to go viral. This kind of stuff is always ruined by unoriginal people trying to replicate what they see on streams.
It's rather odd being in a game called VR chat, and you are the only one out of the 50 people in a room with VR. Guess I'll stick to friends instances. Just glad I joined way back when the community was small and friendly and mostly VR users and made friends with most of the people who played then.
Atleast theres the block feature. It sees pretty heavy use from me. VR only lobbies would be cool.
Yep [t]http://oi67.tinypic.com/2cg27nc.jpg[/t] [t]http://oi63.tinypic.com/33210jr.jpg[/t] All the normal people that actually have VR just hang out in private worlds now so all the public areas are a zoo full of desktop steam users that think yelling the n word is a funny edgy meme
Idk, I'm pretty optimistic. It's pretty bad now but the good thing is VRChat still has a lot of options they could use to weed out most of the problem people. Most of the ideas people have already posted seem plausible. Imagine if having to upload your own avatar was the barrier of entry. That shit was hell on earth for someone like me who has no modeling experience. I don't know if they put in a report system yet or not.
From what I understand, the way the report function works is to (try to) summon a mod and if they come in, you gotta tell them what happened and who it is. In a smaller community I suppose that could work, reporting people would be a rarity. Nowadays, I think the game needs to implement a system where you can report them for specific reasons and so on.
Always wanted to check out vrchat even tho i don't have vr I just wanted to meet and hang out with new people and check out their avatars/rooms or whatever, guess I missed the boat on that one
Always wanted to check out vrchat even tho i don't have vr I just wanted to meet and hang out with new people and check out their avatars/rooms or whatever, guess I missed the boat on that one
I bet you'll find it if you keep looking, but I guess it's become like Second Life in that regard.
I wonder if having VR only rooms, mixed rooms would work im willing to bet 99% of the fuckwads are desktop so VR rooms might fix that
I wonder if having VR only rooms, mixed rooms would work im willing to bet 99% of the fuckwads are desktop so VR rooms might fix that
But if you think about the decent desktop users, vrchat is going to be even worse for them. As a VR user i do want VR only rooms though.
VR only rooms with optional invites for desktop users. then have a buffer room with desktop users allowed where you can check desktop users for being shitheads or not.
give me the power to permaban and i will clean it up
