looks kind of stupid when nobody is in Halo costumes
You should have just called it "CTF". Calling it "Halo CTF" without any Halo weapons (aside from the plasma grenade and energy sword)/armor just makes it seem dumb.
I liked it. I didn't care that they weren't wearing armor, it doesn't take away from anything. It's got the halo sounds and weapons. That was enough for me to know it's supposed to be Halo. Spartan costumes are a bitch to make and more than likely expensive, so I'm not surprised they didn't make any.

For being a huge Halo fan. This disappointed me and I stopped watching it. Nothing in it is Halo except for the sounds.

I'm sorry, but there just isn't enough wow factor to make this stand apart from all of the other shooter related videos out there made with prop guns and Action Essentials 2. You did put a lot of effort into it, getting multiple actors, cool props, decent storyboarding and what not, but it just doesn't take it to the next level for me. The plasma grenade effect was interesting, and I dig the RvB Beaver Creek reference (or was it battle creek in Halo 1?), the sword was pretty decent too. I just think it was a little boring, albeit still very well done. I think it's just the basic premise isn't particularly spectacular. Sorry if I'm being a jerk, it's still better than anything I could do.

Honestly looking at it I'll agree with you in parts. (actors where just mates/us :P ) WE try to be more traditional in filmmaking style i.e. storey line, exposition, movement & all that jazz but it seems with alot more VFX doing films (by that I mean - heres a cool effect, lets build a video around that) is more what people prefer. Thanks for input though :)
Where are the shields? Even if their shield was down, it wouldn't take one bullet from a battle rifle to the chest to kill you.
Where are the shields? Even if their shield was down, it wouldn't take one bullet from a battle rifle to the chest to kill you.
2 options: 1) Its a form of SWAT game 2) That would be quite tricky to do in live action & we're not CGI people. ;)
One big thing you forgot about Halo is trash talking. Everyone has a goal and they are focused on it, but that never stops people from saying a witty line here or there. As for shields, there is a simple trick you can do with that. Similar to your blood splatter effect, just use blue and make it look like ripples. They don't have to be huge, just big enough to be noticed and show that they have shields. But at the same time, without armor people would argue where those shields are coming from to begin with.

Either hand rotoscope or motion track the whole thing, then do the actual annimation good enough to not stand out. Its above our time limit and skill level I'm affraid. Would love to though. We might have someone providing a budget for something big coming up for us which means we can hire CGI/VFX guys :)
"Protect me cone."
"Protect me cone."
Couldn't not have that in there!
Looks more like mw because of the 1 shot kills.
Looks more like mw because of the 1 shot kills.
No, he said it was the Swat gametype and it's a perfect match to how those play out, especially since it's Xbox so there's the aim assist. Any Swat game basically becomes HeadshotFest '11, which is actually pretty fun and is a good ego boost because it's super easy.
Lol the one guy reloads after shooting the girl and missing two shots.. thats three shots.
