Many newer banks have drive-through ATMs and check deposit (via pneumatic tubes), with a full roof over both.

It makes perfect sense. Tons of people drive cars + Tons of people use ATMs.
You combine them together and you have a convenient way to use an ATM from your car.

People can actually walk up to the ATM, you know. It's not like there's some invisible forcefield around it that zaps people on bikes or on foot.
