GTMP and one other I can't remember are both third-party multiplayer clients with server browsers. It can be a lot of fun on the right servers and is completely different than the default online gameplay.

It did. But being open source, people forked it. One project was named FiveReborn, it gained pretty large popularity and pretty much became the de facto successor. Eventually what happened was the team doing FiveReborn and another decided to merge, and from here the project just became known as FiveM again. So yeah, FiveM is still around, just under new management, and doing quite well.
