Did a search and nothing popped up for this one.
Beautifully done, hopefully they'll go back to regular swords like they'd said they would. You can tell Ilya is super excited to be using it.
Never watched the show, but this is probably one of the only swords they've thrown damascus on that actually made it looks better/more like the original.
Still waiting for my Berserk Dragonslayer.
What happened to the older guy? he seems to have disappeared from the Reforged version.
Oh hey, they're in baltimore! If I ever get I'll fucking pay them to make me... something.

He went on a break, and iirc later told that he was quitting, says that he might start a new series in the future.
That demo was so damn cringy. You can obviously see it's very impractical and super wobbly.
I'd love to see a sword from Dark Souls. Something like the Great Lord Greatsword would be super cool.

Actually it looks to be well within the realm of plausibility, doesn't wobble that much and since it's spring steel the wobble is expected. It didn't seem to wobble more than any usual longsword, as an example.

Most non western swords actually wobble a little bit due to their thin-ness.

Nah son, we gots to think bigger. Black Knight Greatsword or Greatsword of Artorias.

You want thick? CRYPT BLACKSWORD.
Most non western swords actually wobble a little bit due to their thin-ness.
Any sword from Asia twists and flips around like a bit of rope when they hit something hard. Katanas are terrible for it.

Youre missing the point. Those are the two coolest swords in DS1.

all swords wobble, if they didn't wobble at all the force would go straight to your arm and it would hurt like hell
all swords wobble, if they didn't wobble at all the force would go straight to your arm and it would hurt like hell
Blade would be brittle too since there's no flexibility meaning it would break easily.

Yeah, just most people don't consider a gladius or a short sword "wobbly" like a falchion or katana.

Sharpen a six foot tall iron slab and put a handle on it.
Dragonslayer.

Now now, boys, the wobblyness is just an effect of the fact they're using a high-med carbon spring steel. Western blades and contemporary swordsmiths (like them) use this because of it's high durability and ability to absorb shock, as some of you noted. Of course, you can have varying amounts of springyness based on how you temper the blade.
Japanese blades were much more rigid, and of course brittle. In later eras they managed to make a blade with a core of high-carbon spring steel with a rigid low-carbon exterior, which improved their durability greatly (but since Japan had such poor iron this usually resulted in the swords eventually bending irreparably rather than breaking :v:)
Look at this video for example.

I admit it's not the best example, but a spring steel sword would wobble a bit on impact when hitting the melons.
anyway, tl; dr: Japanese swords don't wobble much if any, western swords wobble a bit more (or much more, if you wanted it to).

This guy loves making big swords, but he's got rather shite production value.
Gives you a bit of an idea as to just how unwieldy anime swords actually are. And some insight into the strength of the characters wielding them.
Did anyone else notice at the end the cosplayer swung the sword backwards?
My sister used to watch this show all the time, and since we only had one tv at this time, that means I watched them too. Still the only anime I've ever watched. [sp]I liked it, though my sister doesn't like it anymore.[/sp]

Cool, but that dragonslayer is not thick enough.
