This game looks great but just like the first total war Warhammer it already has way too many DLC and pre-order bonuses. I'll probably be buying them years from now when a GOTY comes out, that's just a ludicrous amount of money for either game
"Aready has way too much dlc" There's no DLC announced for it yet though? The Pre-order one is for the first game (which is kind of stupid if you ask me) and since supposedly the games will link up for those who own both (ie connecticing the maps) and any DLC bought for one game will work with the others. Tho for the most part 1's DLC is too expensive.

I believe the main factions, the ones people care about most will always be core factions to each game while factions barely anyone cares about like Beastmen or Wood elves will be regelated to DLC. I mean, you are ultimately right that there is lots of paid DLC and that waiting out is the best option but I'll say you get plenty for your buck with each base game. Apparently they will cut the mini campaigns for each DLC so they'll make each dlc race much cheaper.

Total Warhammer (thats the actual name for it, branding be damned) has gotten a loooot better since its release. Theres so many factions around the map vying for control that it feels like a clusterfuck in all the best ways.
Chaos was put into DLC
Oh yeah. That was bad, but I had forgotten about that since right now Chaos are jobber tier and are waiting for Chaos Daemons and their other buddies to come along in the last game. It seems they learnt the lesson and won't lock any big factions behind pre order walls.

So if you own both and launch 2 does it just make it a massive map automatically?
it's right at the bottom of the page https://www.totalwar.com/blog/early-adopter-post-launch/
"Lots of dlc" "Yea ofc we're going to make a faction pack or two, we're switching it up a bit from how they were in the first game". I'm still not seeing the "too much dlc", especially if getting rid of the minicampaigns drives down the prices of the faction packs. Like seriously, the inflated prices are the biggest problem with Warhammer's DLC. There's not a whole lot of it. [editline]18th August 2017[/editline]
Wait, how does it combine both maps? This is the first Im hearing of this. So if you own both and launch 2 does it just make it a massive map automatically?
So one of the things CA has been touting since before the 1st one's release is that all 3 games (providing you own them all) will combine into one map. So yeah, basically. Though I am a bit skeptical since last I heard that's going to be patched in a few weeks after 2's launch.
Wait, how does it combine both maps? This is the first Im hearing of this. So if you own both and launch 2 does it just make it a massive map automatically?
The combined map will be a separate campaign option from the Eye of the Vortex map which is the base WH2 map. It won't exactly be a combined map - they said that the WH1 map will be present untouched in the combined map, but that the area in the WH2 map will be trimmed down. I also think it won't be in at launch but added shortly afterwards.
they better not trim it down. i want one bigass map.
they better not trim it down. i want one bigass map.
Two or three provinces are being merged and that's it
well thats fine then. i cant wait for TW3 and go on a stupidly huge campaign across a vast map.
I love these cute rats
Needs more ratling guns
Needs more ratling guns
Considering both ratling guns and warplock jezzails are missing (and everyone has noticed this), I wouldn't be surprised if we got Clan Skryre in one of the first DLCs adding in those units (they're already on the WH2 map, but not playable).
we should get a DLC that adds 5 legendary heroes, namely the characters from vermintide.
Two or three provinces are being merged and that's it
Yeah Id be fine with getting rid of some of the store brand factions for some dwarf on skaven action
This is a map that was possibly leaked some time ago, hard to verify but I've been led to believe it's what is planned for all three games. [editline]FUCK[/editline]
there's also this video from someone who was apparently at CA's event where they talked about and showed WH2 content to youtubers also says that this map is the combined map. The latter isn't directly from CA so it's not concrete but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the map we got.
That's the clip I was looking for.
Never played a Total War game, but Skaven have sold me 100%
Wtf? This is just a slightly expanded old world.
Nah this is way back in like June 2016, before we had the other places mapped out with factions. Those purple areas you see that aren't coloured in? Those are planned to be land in the future. As you can see, they expanded on it by making the south lands considerably bigger. [t] https://i.redd.it/jic1cqlsj1gz.png [/t] This is what the combined map will roughly look like. Keep in mind, alot of those empty ruins aren't empty at all but occupied by Skaven. The map is going to be god damn huge.

Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms and... I think thats all thats left?
What im wondering is what theyre doing for Total Warhammer 3. Tomb Kings, Ogre Kingdoms and... I think thats all thats left?
With Warhammer 1 we got four race packs (Beastmen, Wood Elves, Bretonnia and Norsca). Since the Land of the Dead is already in WH2s map, I feel like it's more likely to get TKs as a WH2 DLC than a WH3 faction. For WH3 I'd theorize Ogre Kingdoms and Chaos Dwarves, and maybe Daemons of Chaos.

The problem with this map (Despite the scale not being and shape of the land mass being incorrect) is the fact that it cuts off both of the Skaven factions listed on the map and potentially cuts down the starting position of the Tomb Kings. I can buy it getting cut down slightly, but not this much.
so they are like the ultimate zerg-rush in terms of battle just overpower everything with sheer numbers?
so they are like the ultimate zerg-rush in terms of battle just overpower everything with sheer numbers?
That's how they are on tabletop. Mind you skaven require a surprising amount of delicate strategy. One misplaced poison globe launch, one well placed cannon shot, or even just a gnarly orc charge and your entire army might retreat in turn 1.
