• Trevor Noah interviews Tomi Lahren - or, Tomi talks in circles for 14m

I thought this was an interesting interview. Tomi Lahren is the one of the most right-leaning commentators I see frequently anymore, since she leverages a facebook presence to try to interact better with younger people. I thought Trevor was also far more patient than I could have been. I think he's doing really well with the show, comparing him to Jon Stewart (a once-in-a-lifetime sort of personality) is a bit unfair, since he's clearly very genuine. His news team is also great. The full (26m) interview can be found here, on Comedy Central's website. Also, just don't read the comments. Like, really, don't do it.
lmao there are people in the comments making conspiracy theories because the interview has cuts and edits after controversial conversation and how they're hiding points being made except what they're "hiding" aren't good points but banter from Tami over how she isn't alt-right but just conservative and so on.
I don't see color!
rookie mistake [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] I'll give her some respect for just showing up because someone like her coming on a show like this always ends the same way.

It was interesting hearing her pigeon-holing "the Liberals" constantly. I forget that that happens, and I'm guilty of doing it to conservatives tbh. I also don't get why people say they don't see color. We all see color when it comes to someone's skin tone. What matters is what you do after seeing that color. I have a really racist family, so my first thoughts when I see someone with a different skin color than mine can be not so great. I've gotten a lot better, but I think being able to recognize that I do see color and do think about that is important. Makes it easier to recognize what I'm doing, and change my actions because of it.
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. Trevor changed topics after points he couldn't defend alot.
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. Trevor changed topics after points he couldn't defend alot.
I dunno, I felt he couldn't lock her down to get a solid response for many of his questions. It quickly went to vague uncited generalities or anecdotes - lots of "you see at these protests", "you see at this place", and so on. When he tried to avoid bringing up Hillary when referring to Trump, she quickly rolled her right back into the question. I don't think he DEMOLISHED her, which is what some people seem to think happened. But I don't really think she put up that great of a debate, either.
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. This video is 12min shorter than the full interview, which is 26min long. And that's only the largest one CC has put up, could be that there's more even. I wish they could budget more time for the interviews though, some of them are really good and I usually forget to look for the extended interviews.
I watched the official upload on Comedy Central's site yesterday, and the one part I enjoyed was how she seems to believe that the actions of the "Black Live Matter Thugs" represents the whole movement, because when they do something bad they say "this is for BLM", yet she goes on to say something about how "You can't say that the KKK is representative of Donald Trump and his voters, they're only a small group" a moment later. That seemed like a great hypocrisy that Trevor completely missed out on calling her out for. However, I feel like this kind of debate/interview would have been a little bit better without a live audience, even though the booing was minimal, it might have changed the environment and the flow of the questions/responses.

It feels like he's honestly just trying to understand where she's coming from - and it just doesn't click for him. Not many people realize it, but Trevor was born during Apartheid in South Africa as the son of a European and a South African. His book is called "Born a Crime" because, well, he was born a crime. So he's come from quite the humble beginnings, and has a life already affected by institutional racism and the like.
Yeah I saw this on tv and couldn't stop laughing at how dumb she was making herself sound
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. Trevor changed topics after points he couldn't defend alot.
Why do you keep insisting that you're in any way objective and not biased pretty hard towards the right?
Why do you keep insisting that you're in any way objective and not biased pretty hard towards the right?
Well I think my statement is fairly accurate even with the time situation kept in mind. Also I got biases, but I identify moderate left leaning so I wouldn't consider myself a total shill for the right. I just think for some people on here who are so left, anything else looks right lol.

This video is sophomoric as fuck. No one destroyed anyone, but Tomi didn't really make any salient points. She just kept repeating the vague "you see these people" or "you see at these rallies" without ever quoting a single specific incident. Between that and equivocating a few individuals to a whole group, here arguments around BLM were about as shaky and shallow as they could be
Also I got biases, but I identify moderate left leaning so I wouldn't consider myself a total shill for the right. I just think for some people on here who are so left, anything else looks right lol.
I think some people on here don't have a coherent and self-consistent enough worldview to accurately gauge their own position on the political compass.
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. Trevor changed topics after points he couldn't defend alot.
Step 1. Complain that Trevor Noah can't defend his own points and changes topics

Step 2. Get a 40 minute video to defend your own points for you
Yah, not a demolishing in the least bit.

Well I think my statement is fairly accurate even with the time situation kept in mind. Avoid arguing with the post that brings up specific points, go instead for the one that changes topics

Also can someone define alt-right for me? Because it seems like it means a racist/sexist/islamophobe/homophobe/anti-semite that doesn't even deserve to be heard, and this term is being thrown at everyone who's to the right of the person using the word. I also assume the same people throw a tantrum when someone uses the tern SJW unironically.
[sp]"I started to see the things he was saying that was touching people - " "He was touching people" "Yeah, he was" [/sp] :v:
I honestly see the debate as being dead even. After seeing your behavior here and on practically every SH thread, its no surprise you admire her
