A man legally open-carrying, and taking photographs, is stopped by several police cars and a helicopter. He loses the 3 star wanted level by asserting his rights. They didn't even get to I.D. him. What a guy.

As much as these people filming themselves open carrying are just asking for attention. it is their right to do everything they do.
I like this guy. Most of the people that do this are just dicks to the officer(s).
Gotta love the cops "Okay" defense when he realizes that it's a failed situation.
Idiot.
i like that cop at 3.20~ who calls him out as one of those dudes that purposefully does suspicious shit to provoke police, surprised he would just call it out like that
these dudes make decent points in the entirely wrong context. you wander around a police station at 3am open carrying and wearing a backpack in downtown fucking phoenix and wonder why somebody calls the police? look, you can open carry sure, and good for you for knowing your rights and refusing searches / asking if you're detained, no problem with that. but maybe instead of purposefully provoking a response from people who have genuine concern about your intentionally suspicious behavior, wait until you're REALLY just minding your business, and THEN whip out your pocket constitution and give them what for. because when these dudes wander around acting like cunts looking for a response so they can showoff to their conspiracy theorist / gun-nut YouTube subscribers, they're just giving usually decent cops a hard time to prove a point that doesn't need to be proved right now

that last cop is seriously fantastic if only for this point; if someone was wandering around your house at night, taking photos and had a pistol on their hip at 3am, would you maybe want to call the police? those of you who are gun owners and have fantasies about this kind of thing where you have an excuse to shoot and kill a stranger you feel is threatening you need not respond to that question. and moreover, if you did call the police, would you not want them to respond to your call and ask the guy why he's wandering around taking pics of your house at 3am with a firearm?
taking pictures of federal buildings whilst opening carrying TOTALLY NOT SUSPICIOUS AT ALL but wait- THERE'S MORE! he doesn't have his ID on him.
Wow, he wasn't an asshole?! Surprising.
Edit:
(I'm talking about the guy recording, they always seems to be assholes towards cops.)

This "testing my rights" fad is just downright stupid. The police were being a bit aggressive at certain points but it's better that they investigated someone doing things like this than just writing it off as nothing. If he was just taking pictures of buildings then sure this sort of reaction would have been OTT but open carrying and specifically taking pictures of only a government building? Their actions are understandable.
"Phoenix is now a police state"
Couldn't be any more sensationalist if he tried.
seems like purposefully wasting police resources to me

For the sake of keeping those rights, I think it's perfectly reasonable to remind the law enforcement that such rights exist when they start routinely acting like they don't.

They could do it without being such massive prats tho.

trust me, we know they exist.

if these breaches of your rights are so common why do people need to go out of their way to provoke a response and then make their point? why not wait until a genuine example of police harassing an innocent citizen and then defend yourself?

is it just that you guys are trained to try playing on the ignorance of most people so that you're able to gain more information and advantage over your suspect? not being a dick just legit curious of your perspective

He was slightly dickish.
he was a complete dick he was just kinda funny with that "every year" shit

We dont receive training on it to be blunt. The more people talk to us while not under arrest (or detained) the better off we are since its free information (and dont have to read the miranda rights)
Which is why I tell you that dont talk to police about what you're being arrested for.Talking to the police while under arrest will only hurt you.

They are fully aware your rights exist and what they are but doing things like this isn't going to stop those few power tripping cops from disregarding said rights. It's just going to make the person behind the camera look foolish and in this particular instance show that cops aren't willing to drop the ball on what could become a huge and awful scenario.

my dad (cop of 10-15 years) once told me that there's an exception where talking to the cops is in your favor when arrested but i can't remember what it was for the life of me

The only thing I can think of is an OFP violation
