They just need to take Generations. And make Generations 2...
They just need to take Generations. And make Generations 2...
Too late, and it would be pointless to insert Classic Sonic into yet another game he doesn't belong in.
SEGA can definitely make good games (e.g. Yakuza) but I'm not sure what team they get to make these Sonic games, or maybe they just don't spend enough time on them.
I'm still gonna try it out. I like Dunkey, but I don't agree with all of his opinions. In his Odyssey video he never once really acknowledges the game's problems. Such as incredibly bland and uninspired boss fights, and the bosses that are actually cool are still held back by the bland "3 hit cycle" that Mario games tend to be known for. [sp]You fight a fucking realistic 100 story tall dragon who dies after 3 groundpounds to the head.[/sp]
i dont think sega gives a fuck
That's my problem here if they didn't actually gave a fuck they could have at least tried making an adventure styled game again. But its pretty damn clear sonic team has lost several key developers.
liam also said he doesn't recommend it at all unless you're a diehard sonic fan and even then only as a rent
to put it best here's liam at the start of the stream: [t]https://puu.sh/yhzaJ/258a13f410.jpg[/t] and here's liam during the credits: [t]https://puu.sh/yhzdX/53fed9e55f.jpg[/t]
So uh. Just let Christian Whitehead make Sonic games and kill 3D sonic.
I don't think it was the boss fights that were the issue since it's practically a series staple by this point. Plus, gotta make it easy for kids to figure out too.
This doesn't excuse anything.
This doesn't excuse anything.
No, but [sp]the boss rush you unlock later on partially does. Individually, the boss might not be that hard - but five at a time, with no checkpoints, is actually really challenging.[/sp] People have pointed out Mario Odyssey was designed in a way that allows players of all skills levels to beat the final boss and get their money's worth out of the whole package. If you're a kid, you get dozens of hours of gun and get to rescue princess peach. If you're a hard-core gamer and looking for a real challenge, the end game has you covered in spades.
Can't wait to finish the game to find stuff that i enjoy
Maybe the game isnt for you then.
This game feels like it was worked only on Friday afternoons, it has that feel of "I have to check off all the boxes, but I'm half-assing everything until 5PM so that I can get the fuck out of here for the weekend."
The Avatar and Classic Sonic ruined the game imo. The avatar gameplay was decent but I think its inclusion diverted a ton of resources to working on the different avatar items and wispons and crap that no one cares about instead of focusing all resources on perfecting modern sonic's gameplay and complimenting the level design to his abilities. No drift, no light speed dash, no wall jump, no levels utilize his slide ability. Drift and light speed were left out to allow room for avatar moves and the wall jump was included in one single level at the very end of the game. Slide is in the game, but no levels utilize it for challenges. Wisps need to be retired, and so does this mentality of needing to include a shit ton of different gameplay styles that are all okay at best.

Kind of a weak point when you compare that with all of the flaws dunkey listed in the forces video.
i still can't get into boost gameplay at all
The thing that bums me out is that Sonic as a series has so much potential to be consistently great, but the people producing the current games don't seem to value what it is that they're working on. Mania was proof that all you need is to give the series to talented people who love and respect the material, and you can make a game that even people who completely dismissed the series as a joke would enjoy. Keeping it light-hearted fun as opposed to try-hard anime edginess also does wonders. I hope this means they'll greenlight Sonic Mania 2.
So uh. Just let Christian Whitehead make Sonic games and kill 3D sonic.
Have Christian Whitehead make more 2D. Hire this person for 3D. Win-Win
That looks like a lot of fun to play.
Win-Win
No kidding. SEGA has an absolute slew of talented development fan-teams which would readily make high-quality titles for free (Sonic Team Jr. made SRB2 with the DOOM engine, for crying out loud,) so just imagine what they'd manage with funding to work on their games as a full-time job. There's also Green Hill Paradise, which could've used some tweaking, but otherwise would've been a great basis for a full 3D Sonic game.
i paused the video at precisely the same time dunkey paused the game after that absolute travesty of a joke that was "green hill is looking more like sand hill now"
3D Sonic writing seems to range from alright to horrifically bad.
Man. Sonic is a fucking douche!
3D Sonic writing seems to range from alright to horrifically bad. *handkerchiefs*
SatSR's writing isn't bad by any means. That bit was intentionally played as a joke in an earlier cutscene but takes a whole different meaning [sp]when you realize what Shahra's been through at the hands of Erazor Djinn.[/sp]
