It's happening!!! 60FPS and Dedicated Servers on PC!
It's never gonna happen but I'd love it if this version actually finished the second half of the game
I can hear the PCGamer articles writing themselves.
“This is the Dark Souls of remastered games.”
Both games I'm buying in 2018 announced within a day of each other, sweet.
Wasted opportunity not calling it Dark Souls Rekindled.
Didn't expect this to ever happen. Here's hoping they add some new content too. The pc version definitely needed this though, as fantastic as the game is the port has always been plagued with problems.
What was missing?
I think he might be referring to how Lost Izalith and the Demon Ruins are somewhat unfinished.
I think he might be referring to how Lost Izalith and the Demon Ruins are somewhat unfinished.
Theres even a part in Lost Izalith, before you enter the room where you fight the bed of chaos, where you can see through the ground into a grey void because the devs forgot to put a floor on that section of the map.
I hope they make a Dark Souls 2 Remastered with levels that aren't fucking fullbright
"Never gonna happen" as in there's a lot of stuff after Anor Londo that feels clunky and anti-climactic and would require overhauling the bosses and doing some different stuff with the map, the sort of thing that is usually outside the scope of remasters. We'll probably get something on the level of SOTFS.
I feel like this is too soon? I know Prepare to Die Edition was rather rough on PC, but everyone knows how to mod it to 60fps by now. I'm always ready to go back and play Dark Souls, even after 600+ hours across PC and my buddy's 360, but I don't really want to buy it again... [sp]But I'm going to, damnit[/sp]
It's pretty much one of, if not THE major trendsetter of the PS3/360 generation. So of course it's going to get ported/remastered for the PS4/XB1. The Switch part is the surprising part, in my eyes.
I feel like this is too soon?
Dark Souls came out in 2011.
What was missing?
It just feels rushed and unfinished compared to the rest of the game. There's even unused content in the files that had the Bed of Chaos walking around the arena and using attacks that way. Also, massive copypaste dragonbutts in the lava. Demon Ruins had a nice environment, but there's this one large empty area with a fucktonne of copypaste enemies there.
Dark Souls came out in 2011.
I guess I'm being inconsiderate of the console community, I imagine it's hard to find other people online on the PS3/360.
Considering a proper 60fps version isn't available on consoles, I'm surprised they didn't do it around the same time as Scholar of the First Sin.
Fair enough. But what about Demon's Souls? I finally got to play that via emulator recently and I rather want to get the full experience online.
The 60fps patch is broken as all hell, I'd rather have a proper patch than randomly phase through the floor
Huh, worked absolutely fine for me, in 200 hours I haven't encountered anything like this, at worst some occasional funky corpse physics, but nothing actually gamebreaking.
I heard lots of horror stories about the 60fps patch for Dark Souls 1 but I never had any problems with it. It would turn itself off whenever I opened the steam overlay though, and going from 60 -> 30 in the middle of gameplay is an absolute eyesore.
The 60fps patch is broken as all hell, I'd rather have a proper patch than randomly phase through the floor
My favorite was I had this glitch where if I turned human at a bonfire in a popular area, I wouldn't stand up like 90% of the time. Someone at Oolacile Township invaded me like right as it happened once, didn't even have the decency to kill me and set me free. Okay, maybe I'm just doing the same shit I do with Morrowind where I forget about all the bugs because of all the good memories.
The only "Phase through the floor" 60FPS glitch was that one ladder after you walk under the drake bridge, and only when you went down.
yeah I never had any issues with the 60fps thing
The only "Phase through the floor" 60FPS glitch was that one ladder after you walk under the drake bridge, and only when you went down.
Happens in the elevator on firelink shrine quite a bit for me.
The 60fps patch is broken as all hell, I'd rather have a proper patch than randomly phase through the floor
The 60fps patch works fine. There's one ladder in the whole game where you can rarely clip though the floor if you slide down it.
The "60FPS phasing through the floor at a ladder" only happened for me at that one ladder on a house in Undead Burg.
Pretty sure most of the bugs with 60fps are solved by limiting it to something like 58 fps. I remember reading somewhere that if you limit it to 60fps it would sometimes go above 60 and that's when glitches would happen. Had lots of glitches myself on 60fps but they went away as soon as I set it to 58.
