As bad as this budget game is, I can think of at least two other zombie games much worse and more recent...

^Metaphor^
holy shit was this game ever played by the developers themselves?
it was made in 2005, the games got more bugs then a game made in the 90's.
low budget or not, i'm sure they could have done something about some obvious bugs.
I loved how bad the shotgun was in this. It was literally an accomplishment fucking a shotgun up that bad.
For example, shooting a shotgun up close at a zombie's upper torso would either miss entirely, or blow their legs off. There was no way you could use the gun practically, the buckshot fired from that piece of shit had a mind of its own.
I actually had the patience to beat the game, go figure.
The scare factor is completely absent because after a couple of hours of gameplay you notice that only one kind of corpse laying on the floor is actually a zombie: the ones with flies, sitting down or in some other position will never stand up and attack you, but the ones laying on the floor with both arms and legs straight will.
And if you try to hit or shoot a zombie while it's performing an animation (climbing over fence, sitting up) the hit doesn't count.
so many more bugs and terrible design choices
bullshit game
Interestingly enough the game actually got a surge of people that fixed up the game with fanmade patches that actually made it a playable game, and even today a fairly active amount of people playing the multiplayer.

That is a pretty impressive mod! I would have never guessed there was a community behind this game.
looks much better, but geez that hud is awful
It's kind of sad that this is pretty much a lower production quality version of The Walking Dead Survival Instincts. Can't believe I spent 50 bucks on that.
Completely lost it at the screaming part.
This game let you use Karate moves on zombies what other zombie games let you do that?
I dislike how this thread is implying this game is bad
its really not amazing but it was good enough and is kind of a cult classic. The custom maps and modding community for this is actually really good- the game is great, don't let a video cherry picking some bad moments and bugs steer you away from it.

I've finished the game and trust me it's bad. I can understand why it formed a small community of passionate players, but thats most likely because it was one of the few moddable zombie fps games with multy (if not the only one). The game in itself is complete garbage, and not only because of the bugs, it has tons of problems.
First of all the story is absent, you are just a random guy trying to survive and you meet other people and bla bla bla same clichès we've seen one thousand times. The game is short as fuck, took me about 4 hours. Gameplay wise it's quite bad, just a bland generic shooter with zombies. The whole game is a corridor, there are no exciting moments, it's just walking and shooting zombies as they pop out. The environments are stale, bland and the graphics are terrible even for low budget standards. The enemy AI is the worst I've ever seen, there is no real challenge to the game, its just a boring walk in the park.
There are also some stupid 'design' choices and stupid things they did, for example it can take up to 5 shots in the head to kill a zombie, while it should be a rule in every zombie movie or game that it takes just one hit. It's fucking stupid. The hardcore fans probably have mental problems because it's actually a bad game. It can be fun for five minutes, in fact i liked dismembering zombies but that's just about it.
That fucking zombie nun
I have to admit the body bag part is pretty cool.

uhhh Dead Rising.
I played this game often when it first came out, yes it was a bad game, but the online community was fantastic, the modding was fantastic, it was great to go online and play with friends in maps that remade iconic Romero movies.
This game hilariously has a special place in my heart.
Still looks way more fun than Survival Instinct
funny thing is the game and survival instinct have the same ranking on metacritic
which is some how not surprising.

If you average out the three platform scores for Survival instinct (somehow the PC version is a few points ahead of the consoles) "Land of the Dead" comes up one point higher.
