He's gone full serious.
The way he describes how WSJ cornered Disney into forcing to cut ties with him is absolutely gut-wrenching. Fuck the WSJ and their shitty journalism.
I feel bad for the guy.
I don't think it's a personal attack on him like he chalks it up to be, but modern media today has been known to splice things to tell the story that will make them the most amount of money. Biggest example of that was during the BLM thing with one of the protesters where CNN completely cut out her saying "BURN THE MOTHERFUCKER DOWN" and making her look like a golden peaceful protestor.
All in all, it still doesn't make it cool for any media outlet to do this. That still is a meaningless human life you're impacting.
Can't he sue for libel?

I mean, they cancelled Scare PewDiePie over it.

I honestly want him to.
I dont think he's aware that he can.
Feel bad for PewDiePie, once you get big you automatically get a target on your back and have to watch every little thing you say. Must be extremely stressful.

WSJ would probably find a way to wiggle out of it sadly.
Damn, he really got choked up at the end there.
And yeah I totally agree, this is nothing but a personal attack from "old media" that doesn't understand or choose to disregard the new wave of entertainment that they perceive as a threat to their established status quo. They attack him because he's the most prominent youtuber, and youtube has been making very pointed jabs at the mainstream media landscape lately.
This has to be a real burden for him. When you get big as an actor you kinda expect being in the public eye, but no one expected the same thing to happen to someone making vids in front of their computer, least of all Felix I think. Navigating the public eye (especially with his kind of content) must be an absolute nightmare when it's unexpectantly dumped into his lap.

If Felix can get those Disney lawyers though that'd be a different story.
I mean, doubt that'd happen now, but.
"Oh we didn't know he was joking"
"We didn't lie about him, we just reported the relevant facts"
Makes me wonder still if these guys have watched any idubbbz videos.

Please don't give them any ideas.
I get that he's sad that there was backlash over his video, but it looks like he still has a hard time understanding that his actions will have consequences, especially with how big of a figure he is on the internet. This reminds me of when he made those rape jokes and got a lot of flak for it. Now, even if everyone claims "it was just a joke" from here until the end of time, there were consequences. No matter how many times he can say he's sorry or get choked up on camera, he fucked up. I have a feeling many other big youtube stars are going to start getting punished the same way.
Obviously all of the slander and manipulation is horrible, he shouldn't be getting treated this way, especially the claims that he's a nazi based on nothing at all. But if he knows he's being targeted, why doesn't he at least try to tone down some of his content?
Why is the media doing this? This shit will only further discredit the media in a time where media should try to earn back the trust of the young masses.
I know this is kind of unrelated but this sort of anti media propaganda can influence younger audiences(You know, like pewdiepie's subscribers) into thinking all media is only out there to lie to you and get clicks and that empowers people who discredit media in situations where they are in the wrong and they want people to ignore the media(ie Trump).
I feel for Felix and i know hes a good guy but I hoped he had been a bit more specific when addressing the whole "the media is out to get you" thing. Pretty sure alot of people understand that concept without a detailed explanation but young people are so easy to influence the wrong way, you just gotta be more careful.
Anyway, fuck the WSJ.

It's because most media outlets are only thinking about the short term profit and not the long term profit.

I imagine their target audience with these kinda headlines is people that seek to confirm their biases/opinions/prejudices.
The "young masses" are more likely to be getting their impressions and opinions either directly from pewdiepie or from content aggregators linking to videos like this when relevant drama is in the air. Young people know how to adblock, new media is heavily decentralized, and can often cut out middleman articles/shows by directly linking to sources and witness reports.
I imagine that's a difficult audience for old media to break into. They probably prefer living off the older generations as long as possible, or at least until they've found a good approach to restructure without becoming just another blog with a name that once held meaning.

Dude just the idea of it makes me all giddy inside.
I want to see what kind of roasting Ian can make on them. There's so much good material from the kind of people who make these articles

It would need to be a 70 part episode with each episode being an hour long

The reason he got flak for the rape jokes is because they were repetitive and genuinely not funny.
These "antisemitic" jokes have context to them, and it's also the context that makes them not only funny, but also non-antisemitic.
Also, another thing I haven't seen anyone address yet - the media constantly points out how PewDiePie paid two fiverr accounts for two antisemitic jokes on different occasions.
That's factually wrong. PewDiePie merely found Jesus' 'Hitler did nothing wrong' video on his fiverr profile.
I would say you can see that in the video, but PewDiePie had to take it down so you can't.
The last couple of years have really made me distrust the media in general. I feel like I can't believe anything I see from any of the legacy media sources.
Because you can't. They all serve an a purpose to some CEO. They want clicks, views, and money generated from it.
I try to look at a lot of sources and get a bigger view on certain topics but the media makes it hard and sometimes I don't even know what to believe even after looking into topics.
I don't even know why I checked the Kotaku article about this video, the comments are terrible

Jokes should have career damaging, or possibly ending, consequences. Okay dude.
I don't know what kind of silence is golden dictatorship big brother ass kind of society you want to live in, but you're alone in that dog. The only reason why sites like WSJ turn off their moral compass and tuck away their sense of humor is because it sells, and in no small part thanks to people like you that support it, even if it is with one foot in the door.
This is nothing short of horrible, more importantly telling of* how far shit has gone.
This honestly I find disgusting, anyone and their dog could see that they're just jokes and obviously taken out of context if they watched the original videos BUT, as many people do if they only read the title and a a first few lines without doing some of their own research they'll take it at face value and run with it.
I can't wait for old media to die to be honest, is anything what we read any more actually what is written or is it all just twisted in some despicable way?
