Like the base coop game. Sometimes it just shows up, all of the doors lock up and you have to fight him.

I never played co-op in this game, and I only played up until the basements of the apartments in the story before I wussed out
now I feel like I missed out

The games gets much more horrifying later on, especially when you have to revisit the apartments

Original coop campaign was short, buggy, and REALLY difficult. Hope this one is good.
