Welcome to Russia, where teaching this in their driving lessons is optional.
What was with that bus at 3:15? Looked like it could be intentional, he just kept going
7:20 what the fuck was that?
Some of these legit look like murder attempts. There is no way they couldn't have seen it coming
Could a Russian chime in and explain to us why Russian drivers are genuinely bad? I've heard some theories that it's because majority of the drivers are relatively new to driving (first generation drivers), due to the fall of the wall, or that you can pay your way to your license. Is any of this true?

people sometimes confuse accelerator pedal with brake pedal after an accident

not at all, how does this even matter

ofcourse, I personally did this
Do they not have any kind of road markings at all in Russia?
Oh wait nevermind there are some later in the video.
I don't think it's Russia having more crazy car accidents, but I think (?) it's due to dashcams being more of a requirement for Russian insurance agencies, so more of this stuff is recorded? Correct me if I'm wrong.

probably a bit of the former and a lot of the latter

not a requirement, but it helps with proving that you're not the culprit, especially if you fall victim to a fraud (like the classic: car in front of you slams the shit out of the brakes, you ram into it, you're basically always guilty because it was your responsibility to prevent these things blah blah so whoever was in the car asks for money or ~else~)

it's just most of these videos are from rural areas, where roads are so shitty that people are grateful if there's even new asphalt on them and that happens once in a blue moon

Bit of both I feel.
i can't even fathom why some people in these clips always turn a little opposite of where their intention of going is before committing, usually without blinkers too
no wonder there was an accident at 6:40

Abysmally hostile climate and equally abysmal road maintenance makes it so every single Fall/Winter scrapes the markings clean off. In fact, a lot of the asphalt slides right off too (and so, terrible roads). So every early Spring we get roads one can barely drive on without going all over the road to avoid bumps and holes, forget asking for proper markings.

Don't forget that if there's heavy truck traffic, it speeds road destruction 5x
Don't forget that if there's heavy truck traffic, it speeds road destruction 5x
Yes, but it's minor part of the problem: most of the damage is done by the elements - weather erodes the pavement, so the road gets far more susceptible to heavy traffic-related damage. Main problem, however, is still maintenance and cheapskate technologies employed in construction.

I'm not Russian, but I've seen several posts about it pointing the cause at bad road infrastructure, lack of maintenance, and accident scamming.

Nah dude, road condition plays very little part in it, mostly it's the attitude and lack of skill combined
