I'm not sure I understand what's so impressive about this.

Doing without armour is the big part since it's such a huge part of survival.

I've completed HL1 before on Hard without taking a single damage or using cheats, glitching or skipping chapters. I only took some HEV damage at the freezer part which is impossible to avoid.
Took me like a month and hundreds of saves/reloads and restarts.

It gives them "bragging rights" because lots of people haven't done it, not to mention it takes some dedication to do it.
I also do not see the part in their post where they were bragging, they only shared what they had done.
And OP, you should set a descriptive title instead of a cliffhanger next time.

Doing a speedrun in HL while taking less than 50 damage at any given point in time is pretty trivial (edit: not including xen where you have the door glitch giving you effectively infinite health. That's a lot slower without that), at least in terms of some of the other speedrunning stuff. You still have a health bar, you just don't have a HUD or suit energy. That really doesn't mean all that much.
For all intents and purposes, most weapons may as well have infinite ammo in a speedrun because you use them so rarely between flying over ammo pickups. Additionally, not having the extra health pool to tap into makes you more conservative with blast jump items (which are one of the few weapons that are limited in the first place.) In other words, the HUD is basically a moot point.

Why exactly do I need to do it in order to say that I don't find it impressive? You can only achieve this with console commands, and it doesn't significantly impact the difficulty of the game in any meaningful way. What is impressive about that?
