Solid points to help counter some of the shitstorm in the AC remake.
Shit, I didn't know polygon made that video. Watching embeds on facepunch doesn't show the author so I never would've known.

But that's not the same model. They have different skin tones, shirts and headwear, and the 360 one is just a texture on a head because it's a model that's not meant to be seen so closely. If he managed to show that same randomized head on the 360 in the same location as the hd version, he'd have a point. What it seems like they did, was try and remake a head that was only supposed to be viewed at a distance, hd-fy it, and put it in the pool of heads that were meant to be seen closely for the game to pick out randomly.
AC2 was never really a good looking game so of course increasing the res is gonna make it easier to pinpoint how nasty everything looks
I am shocked that polygon would try to create controversy for clicks
But that's not the same model.
Those are called composite models. Individual body parts (head, hat, upper body, lower body) that are merged together to create many character variations using the same meshes. What polygon did was show off bugs and issues that were already present in the original game and made it look like they were introduced in the remaster
I am shocked that polygon would try to create controversy for clicks
Not surprised in the slightest over here, especially with how Polygon handles things in general (i.e: DOOM). Definitely not the first time this has happened either, and it isn't just limited to Polygon: Gamespot (and some other site reviewers) with their Sonic Lost World review(s) purposefully killed themselves in the crumbling platform sections of Windy Hill Zone Act 1, along with some other bits, just to make the controls look worse than they seem (though to be fair, it wasn't the best to begin with). i think we can all agree after doom that polygon has no business in reviewing video games. if that didn't solidify your thoughts, watch their vr gun game review as well.
I hope Ubisoft sues the shit out of Polygon. After Kotaku it'd be great to see Polygon die also. This type of shit is inexcusable.
Assassins' creed 2 was always a semi glitchy game, just not in the things break randomly sort of way save for the fast climbing glitch. I used to always play with how you could grab an NPC and disjoint your self from the NPC by jamming a ladder between you and him.
so what i've learned is that the game is still buggy and broken and they haven't fixed a very infamous glitch. the weird npc can be overlooked but that fast climbing glitch still being in speaks numbers about how this remaster was pushed out, aka it's not a remaster, just a shit re-release. yeah it was for clicks, but polygon isn't the only bad side to this story.
I never knew about that fast climbing glitch. it never happened to me in all the games it appears in. what triggers it?

For once when I thought Polygon were doing what game journos are supposed to, turns out they were falsifying controversy. Solidifies my opinion of them.
They made a response but didn't actually say anything.
And the fast climbing glitch?
Ok?
Still doesn't change the fact that they didn't go in to detail with how the face generation worked at all, nor did they state that they got that particular face multiple times. That should have been smarter to say from a journalists viewpoint.
I don't understand why I didn't have any suspicions when I clearly saw that Polygon made the original video.
