Hold on I'm confused, it's legal to just initiate a fight with your opponent in Hockey ?
Yes. It's a legit tactic.

Sometimes, the instigator of the fight is more severely punished. As far as I know, fighting is totally normal in North American hockey leagues but not overseas.
Yeah in North America it's a "boys will be boys" kinda thing that is frowned upon by teams and refs but not strictly prohibited and usually enjoyed by fans. Don't know why only hockey is like that. It's kinda like with Soccer/Football and flopping. It always seems to me like flopping is such an un-sportsmanly, stupid, conniving thing to do and should be a serious offense. I guess other sports get floppers too but it seems prevalent in football.
Here's the Punch-Out one that happened not long before the one in the OP:
This was perfect
oh my god these speaker men are heroes of sports
This is fantastic.
When I played hockey, 6 or so years ago, we didn't usually have guys on speakers unless it was like a tournament. I used to play as defense, and I'd body check people who obviously had the puck. This one guy would purposely come after me after I hit him a few times, and he once hit me from behind/side. Which obviously could have seriously injured me, and so I turned around(take note that we had full metal guard helmets, nothing with just a visor), and I started to punch at his helmet with my glove still on. I eventually got his shirt over his head and put one last good punch into the side of his helmet sending him to the ground. During all this, I didn't even notice, but someone had been playing Eye of the Tiger at 1:24; Of course I got a penalty and we went back to playing, but after hearing that they played that, I was excited as hell. Then I received pats on my back from my team mates. Ah... Nostalgia.. Good old days.
