• Mountains of the Lake District, UK, shot from above with a drone

I went to the Lake District last week to shoot some of the beautiful landscapes with my drone. I scouted for locations in advance using Google Maps to discover mountainous terrain and mountain roads offering easy access to a good flying zone. Also street view helped massively, when it was available. Some scenes, though, were simply found by chance by driving around. The last one in particular was a lucky break - I had maybe 5 minutes until the sun completely set on that rock and a minute of film space left on the SD card. Managed to get it though, and was my favourite shot of the whole trip. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Feedback and questions welcomed.
Breathtaking. I wish I had locations like these where I live, but bay area cali is urban wasteland and desert. Phantom 3 Pro, I assume?
music is :rrerr: out of 10

How to Train Your Dragon is an amazing film, absolutely loved the soundtrack :)
Having lived in Florida all my life and not scaled more than a large hill I'm incredibly jealous that some people have hike-able mountains within driving distance.
Lovely video. i've always wanted to go to the Lake District. I live in the Trossachs national park in Scotland, so it's very similar where i live. you should definitely try out your drone up here. or even the cairngorns
Hey that's where I live :) Weird seeing all these places near me that I've walked from the air.
seen some of your shots on creative photography. honestly your treading onto a gold mine right now. keep up what your doing mate its fucking incredible also the music fit that so well.
The music seems somewhat oddly familiar but i can't quite put my finger on it, also i live like an hour from the lake district and go biking there alot......fucking amazing place.

To be honest, if the Trossachs national park looks like this then you might be disappointed with the Lake District, mainly because of its popularity. All the nice small villages have traffic through them most of the time, and even far out in the sticks you're never truly away from other cars etc. I actually planned a few places to visit in the Trossachs national park - I very nearly went there this time, but the extra distance when compared to the Lake District for me made the Lakes a bit more enticing, especially since this was the first time I'd done something like this and I was just learning the system (charging the batteries in the car, where to take off from, how to fly near mountains, etc.) My next "drone trip" like this in the UK will certainly be the Trossachs national park - it looks absolutely stunning, it's a little bit less busy (I imagine), and there are many more mountains. You're certainly lucky to live in such a beautiful place. It's about a 7-8h drive for me, though! Very nice part of the world to live. What area do you live in (if you don't mind me asking)? I actually planned the music before I even planned the trip. I find this song so enthralling, I just knew I had to make a video to it, and I think footage of flying over mountains was the only footage that could do it justice. I had the song in my head most of the time I was making a shot, planning what part of the music it'd go to. That didn't always work out the way I planned, but I got close to what I imagined in the end. I hope to make many more videos like it. I'm travelling to Switzerland in a few weeks and I'll be taking the drone with me ;) [editline]18th August 2015[/editline]
The music seems somewhat oddly familiar but i can't quite put my finger on it, also i live like an hour from the lake district and go biking there alot......fucking amazing place.
The music is from How to Train Your Dragon. Great place to bike :)
Nice footage, you should get your drone to Scotland.

If you go there again, I'd recommend doing a walk/scramble up a valley called Stickle Ghyll. It ends at the top by a beautiful tarn/lake underneath a massive cliff face called Pavey Ark. There's a diagonal route directly up the face called Jakes/Jacks Rake (there's a lot of weird names in the lakes). It's pretty tiring and I wouldn't recommend doing Jakes Rake unless you're good with heights and a confident climber, but it's some of the best views ever.
The video is majestic with Lord of the Rings music.

If I do go back, I'll visit those places. This time, I didn't have a bag for the quad so I had to carry it - not good for long distances [editline]18th August 2015[/editline]
The video is majestic with Lord of the Rings music.
Thanks, glad you liked the music
