Even if it isn't the Half Life movie that I'd like, I love that it is based around the first game.
Looks alright.
Costumes look pretty decent
Effects look passable
Acting looks acceptable
Better than the other half life based movies that never got finished/released
I.e escape from city17
ehhh gordon should be fighting by himself. part of what made hl1 badass, and the reason gordon is so famous in hl2, is because he did all that shit single-handedly (with the exception of people opening doors for him :v:).
I'm sad to see the scientists aren't crazy old men.
Looks pretty cool, though I think that Freeman's iris' are a little bit green. Would look better if they were paler in color.
As a side note: This is being created by guys who worked on many other fan films such as Half Life: Origins

the fucking great Beyond Black Mesa

and the excellent Enter the Freeman, which I think might even be considered a part of this web series.

I think we're in for a good one.

Don't remind me we never got the third part to Escape from City 17
This is the best directed and most accurate Half-Life fan film.

There's no contest.

The water! They put something in it, to make you forget.
[sp]He drinks to forget...[/sp]
YESsss that HEV Mark IV, I've been waiting so long to see a decent costume of it!
Him running in the suit at 0:42 looks so bad ass. Such a great looking suit.
Mark IV will always be the best suit.
Looking forward to more. They better have Shephard run in right when he teleports.
Ross Scott should be playing gordan freechman
i wanted to like it but i thought it looked silly
The fuck was that HECU doing, shooting crouched and making a small jump up, loosing grip of the firearm while still shooting it
I can't even bring myself to watch those anymore when they're so painfully cliché.
I've been following production on these guys for years and they really are putting in an honest effort.
I also like that they're using more RL locations than just greenscreen + cgi.
Plus that suit is sexy af:

While I admire their effort, IMO these videos fail to catch the sort of unique aesthetic and atmosphere that Half-Life has, they just feel really "off", and as someone else said, cheesy and silly.
And it's a shame, because they're obviously capable of pulling it off

We talking about the dark comedy, straight-face kinda atmosphere? The 'Valve Feel'?
I think, honestly, a good part of the reason why adaptations of video games are often so 'weird' is because games have a totally unique tone to them- that of detached personal control. Within a non-interactive fictional universe, every character genuinely feels the repercussions of what they've done- they're always going to act differently, because they can be scripted in a predictable circumstance. In a video game, there is one character- you- who is nigh-omnipotent, a weird distant observer who can influence the world but has never truly been part of it. Watching Gordon Freeman do stuff is always going to look strange, because on some level, you're always going to feel like you're not involved, and you should be.
Also, everybody's faces seem way too dirty. I mean, I know there's a crisis, but wipe your damn face.
