Starting out on youtube, need opinions/constructive criticism! - General

Hey all, this is pretty much my first post on facepunch. Basically I'm starting to really get into the youtube community and making videos. Mostly gaming/informational gaming videos. I'll be obtaining a Blue Yeti mic as well as a Hauppauge HD PVR in the near future. I get an ok amount of views per video. Like for it being out 3 days I'll get around 200 views. I know it's not a lot for big youtubers and partners but it seems expandable. I've started to get this urge every day to make videos and see feedback, it's so fun. What I'm asking is if you guys would be able to check out my newest video and tell me what you think. I'm not coming on here to blow up views by getting people to click on it, I truly want your guys opinions and how I can change my videos to the general public's liking. I wish people would stop joining facepunch just to advertise their new channel/video that NOONE here cares about. For the sake of constructive criticism, take the following into mind: Your microphone is shit. I stopped watching as soon as I heard you come on. For the love of god, [b][i]PLEASE[/i][/b] do [b]not[/b] join a forum just for advertising.

Informative yet not exactly entertaining.

Do something original and creative instead of the generic "Play something, then post it as a video" like what everyone and their mother is doing on Youtube as we speak.

I watched it, the part where you were explaining the armor and what not was not so bad. But when you spent like 3 minutes on the webpage reading shit off, I got bored and stopped watching.

Sorry for being so critical, you're probably the 100th person that has joined Facepunch this summer just for this kind of thing, and it's been getting to me. I suggest trying to be more interesting/entertaining in your videos, like Winters said above, that part where you read things on a webpage was unbearably boring.

Or play new games that come out and ramble about shit but then I think again (like one of the replies), everyone and their mother does gaming commentaries. It's really fun for me, I just need to find a way to spice it up.

Maybe just write down some main points you want to talk about and just casually talk about them instead of reading

Following only key points keeps your talking structured yet still realistic and slightly free formed. Also, as others said, please don't just read from a website, with the website in the background especially.

Also, I would have waited until you have a decent bit of content before posting here. You have 8 videos over 11 months. 3 from last week. 2 on Halo. You definitely need more. At this point with that little content it looks like something you could and may drop easily.

Instead he can now go and try to improve based on the feedback he's been given and not feel as though he's spent ages making a bunch of videos that all share the same pitfalls.

Your Halo video is incredibly informative but I didn't find anything interesting for myself to latch onto you need to fix your microphone and add some level of excitement to it right now it's bland and not really appealing

I really wanna thank you guys a lot for the help. I really didn't expect to get even 3 responses but I'm really going to take all this advice and mash it together. Since I really do enjoy making these videos I'm excited to take these suggestions, thanks guys.

Making more videos and understanding the best ways to speak, to format, and to edit a video is very important as well.

It's a good channel actually. Imagine how effort he has to create scripts and read them properly to them being understandable. His microphone is average, what he says it's graspable. On facepunch I think you are just a bunch of whiny whoring dudes that have been beaten up by their parents without any motivation to be this terrible to others that have inventive and enterprise. Now vote this "dumb" so you can feel your life being useful for a tiny microsecond. :D

It allows for more options enabling much better frame rates when recording.
