I cant tell if people get KSP to look good with mods or editing software.

I know volumetrics are slowly starting to be used in games at last, and some of them are slightly physically interactive, but we're a ways off from being able to accomplish something like that in real-time as a single asset within a full game with a thousand other things to process simultaneously. Don't get me wrong, we'll get there. I mean, we're already starting to use simulated hair and fur in games. That alone blows my mind.
