They sure knew how to torture someone back then.
I have no idea how torturers and executioners could put people though this. We're all human and we're capable of compassion so how the fuck could some people do these things to other people.
This is Amnesia all over again.

Quite a few creative ways, especially the one with rats.
There's a few of creepy top 10s on the channel, the creepy places one, and demonic possessions really creeped me out

The Rat cage is what really disturbed me.
No Scaphism? The victim of Scaphism was fed copious amounts of milk and honey, strapped & completely immobilized on a boat, and sent to the middle of a body of water such as a lake. The milk & honey led to horrible diarrhea, which filled the boat and attracted insects to slowly eat the body

Still think nothing quite beats saw torture.
The victim was tied to an inverted position. This had several "benefits": first, it assured sufficient blood diverted to the brain, second, it slowed down the loss of blood and third, it humiliated the victim. Depending on the victim and torturer, this torture could last several hours. When a confession was required, the victim was frequently forced to watch someone else be subject to this method. If he didn't confess, he'd be slowly cut in half.
http://www.medievality.com/torture.html

Thing is, this method is devised to eventually kill the person and not just inflict extreme pain for interrogation or just for kicks as you would with regular torture.
ain't got shit on the Brazen bull
Wow that's the Blacksmith from Man at Arms youtube channel!

I'm confused about the heretic fork. How do you die of sleep deprivation?
I'm confused about the heretic fork. How do you die of sleep deprivation?
It was a double-sided fork placed between the breastbone and the throat. If you tried to sleep, your head would tilt downwards and cause the fork to pierce your skin
In what sort of a mental configuration does one have to be in order to have this as their job?
This is probably the most frightening thing in the world. The fact that humans can be evil enough to do this to each other. Makes me want to give up on humans.
It was a double-sided fork placed between the breastbone and the throat. If you tried to sleep, your head would tilt downwards and cause the fork to pierce your skin
But couldn't you just stay awake for a long time? I mean, how do you actually die from not sleeping?
This is probably the most frightening thing in the world. The fact that humans can be evil enough to do this to each other. Makes me want to give up on humans.
It really is quite astonishing that someone who was a part of the same species that we belong to was capable of doing this. Sometimes it is difficult to ignore the impression that our only similarities are the physical ones, and that humanity consists of thousands of different species sharing similar host bodies instead. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline]
But couldn't you just stay awake for a long time? I mean, how do you actually die from not sleeping?
your brain and your body probably just start falling apart from exhaustion. It seems like an unbelievably horrible way to die, considering how slow it probably is.
Anyone still asking for the difference between animals and humans? No?
Thing about torture devices is that some sick motherfucker has to think it up first
Thing about torture devices is that some sick motherfucker has to think it up first
They are disgustingly simple, forcing one to make a disturbing realization that the possibilities here are literally limitless, also forcing one to make an equally disturbing realization that countless innovations have been made, and most probably are being applied today in one form or another.
#1 reminds me of Vlad the Impaler.
How about Strappado? Not lethal, but painful as hell.
Strappado is a form of torture in which the victim's hands are first tied behind his or her back and suspended in the air by means of a rope attached to wrists, which most likely dislocates both arms. Weights may be added to the body to intensify the effect and increase the pain.
www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strappado
Anyone still asking for the difference between animals and humans? No?
The difference? It's not worth to torture animals :v:
