[video=youtube;bcGIF52caUM]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcGIF52caUM[/video] This popped up on my YouTube recommendations and I thought it was a pretty interesting video, watching the time lapse process going from a rough log to smooth vase was amazing.
One day when I settle down I desperately want a woodworking shop.
I wonder how much all the tools and machinery cost.
I have a relative who makes all sorts of wood stuff including vases, how does one sell a wooden vase for 100 bucks? He'd like to know very much as the stuff he makes is quite good.

You can buy similar hand made wooden vases/crafts for far cheaper ($30 or less), so it's always possible he is just making the prices up. In any case I doubt he's selling boatloads of these things and making a killing either way. Best bet for trying to sell stuff would be to make some videos in the same vein as guys like this, trying to get some popularity through social media and Reddit etc then offering to sell stuff that is shown in the videos, no clue how many people would be desperate to buy stuff like that though.

my father in law has been doing a lot of lathe work the past two or so years, really seems to enjoy it. Has been making a lot of neat multi-wood things [t]http://i66.tinypic.com/f0pvuh.png[/t] (can't tell here but each piece has a neat shininess that alternates around, hard to describe without seeing it moved about) [t]http://i63.tinypic.com/2w3rqt5.png[/t] I'm not sure what he's been selling stuff for (many end up just gifts and exchanges for favors) but I have to say I'm not sure how the OP vase could go for $100, unless he's got an ideal tourist trap town and shop [editline]e[/editline] he recently did one of those crazy ones where you lathe a huge stack out of pencils glued together with clear resin, could've come out more even but it's neat [t]http://i66.tinypic.com/xcvpg3.png[/t] [editline]e[/editline] apparently he sells things for $40-200 depending on the complexity, but again they're usually just gifted.

If he went to a fancy art school he would just take the log, skip all the hard work, and sell it for 10 times more.
