Yeah, obviously games that ditch the entire magazine would be an exception to that rule. I've not really had the chance to sink my teeth into something like ARMA yet.
It's basically something that stuck with me since Halo 3.

You don't actually ditch them - you keep them. When you reload you use a full magazine, or the fullest one available.
