Dear god tag that as nsfw man.
The knife is blunt. It's an illusion, the iodine solution reacts with the alcohol solution to make that colour. The cold blunt knife + alcohol makes you think you've been cut.
Please see my post further down the thread for information, this one is slightly incorrect with regards to what is being mixed, thank you.
What an awesome teacher

Oh sorry. I didn't know that.
Did you watch it til the bit where she wipes it all off her arm?
Oh sorry. I didn't know that.
You really think a teacher would slice open the wrists of a student?
Stuff like this is a great way of teaching, it's visual and creates a class reaction, promotes discussion and makes people remember it.
Oh sorry. I didn't know that.
The fact that she seems mildly interested rather than being all "Oooh, aaah, i am bleeding" is a dead giveaway

I really wish my teachers were like this when I was in school. They were mostly in a style of, "Here's a book, read it, and regurgitate the information onto a test in a week. Be quiet."
Granted I did learn a lot from that style, I had almost zero fun and ended up getting myself into a lot of trouble to try making some fun here and there. If lessons are fun, interactive, and stimulating then people won't feel the need to go off and make trouble to make up for lost fun.

It's Oakley

In Russia it's usually the students being shitheads rather than the teachers
Like all countries really, but more asshole-ish than the norm.

It's just that when the knife came in I got confused in terms of what was happening.

From what I can understand from translating the video description, the stuff rubbed on her arm is a Potassium Thiocyanate (KSCN) + Alcohol solution, the mixture she wipes onto the knife is Ferric Chloride (FeCl3 also known as Iron(III) Chloride) mixed with Iodine (Mixing Ferric Chloride with water would result in a corrosive solution).
When they come into contact it creates Thiocyanatoiron which is known for causing a Blood-red colour and has been used in film effects. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiocyanatoiron
Experiments like this always make education better.
i still felt rather queasy watching this despite well-knowing the effects of iodine and alcohol
Goddamn this would make an awesome prank compilation.

nowhere near a knife that's for sure.
Science teachers in the US would be instabanned the moment they even mentioned trying it.
