no youtube upload yet, the video is excellent though
at first I was thinking "Oh ok, yea I can see them doing several takes of this easily to try and get it right" but once they introduced the paint that had to be one hell of a reset if they fucked it up past that point.
Well I discovered a new band today. Thanks for sharing.

I would imagine that it would cost quite a lot to have many takes.
Oh hey that's S7 Airlines, that's pretty cool. I like them.
Surreal video, my favorite OK Go video hands down. The dude in the red was just a second too slow to sit in the end and slammed pretty hard into his seat there.
I thought you could only go a few seconds without feeling gravity with planes though.

The paint part is pretty simple and it's at the end so i guess there weren't many takes spent on that.
It looked to me like the choreography was fairly 'open', just kind of playing around with the weightlessness. I'm sure that any mistakes were fairly easy to correct for just by trying to make sure you're back in the right place by the next 'major' moment.
For a group of people, especially a band that's got a load of cash, they aren't expensive to do. It's about $5,000 to go up, and they do like 10-15 maneuvers per flight that last half a minute each. I want to know how they cut between the maneuvers while the plane climbed back to altitude so smoothly

After watching it a couple more times, it looks like they speed up the video and stay in place while the plane climbs. And then resume once the plane starts its next maneuver.

it's 25-30 seconds of weightlessness, with about 5 minutes of rest time. they pause everything during those 5 minutes, and in the video they cut out a huge chunk of the middle portion and then morph the beginning and end of the rest period.

the wiki shows 25 seconds down for every 65 seconds of flight, but this is probably also considering they were flying in a safe zone. I'm sure under certain circumstances you could do a longer freefall, though it would have to be saved for the last shot

that's a lot of paint to clean up
I'm pretty sure the hostess at 2:45 faceplants and JUST barely makes it through the curtains by the time she'd be in view again, with just a sliver of her leg in view amidst all the balls

god damn, you always think after watching one of their music videos "there's no way they can top this" and they do

Yeah, I've never really been a big fan of their music (I mean, it's good, it's just not the type of band I'd listen to a full album of), but they've got to be some of the most creative music video producers there are. They should get into producing other people's videos. Getting a band with a little more oomph like Radiohead in a video cooked up by these guys would be perfect.
The longest period of weightlessness that it is possible to achieve in these circumstances is about 27 seconds, and after each period of weightlessness, it takes about five minutes for the plane to recover and prepare for then next round. Because we wanted the video to be a single, uninterrupted routine, we shot continuously over the course of 8 consecutive weightless periods, which took about 45 minutes, total. We paused our actions, and the music, during the non-weightless periods, and then cut out these sections and smoothed over each transition with a morph.
You can spot the moments in the video when we skip ahead in time because they are points when gravity briefly returns. This happens at 0:46, 1:06, 1:27, 1:48, 2:09, 2:30, and 2:50.
You might notice that these moments aren’t 27 seconds apart. That’s because the song moves in musical sections that are a little less than 21 seconds long, and it was important to us that the punctuations of gravity in our routine work musically with the song. To fit the 27-second periods weightlessness into 21-second sections of music, we performed our routine slightly slower than what you see here (the song is normally 92.5 BPM, and we performed it at 72 BPM), and later sped up the footage (28.47%) to bring it back up to normal speed.
wait that means they're handling the 1.8g segments not on the floor
oof
[editline]11th February 2016[/editline]
which is also why the red shirted guy looks kinda tired at the end of the video
he just fell into his chair at 1.8g woops
You know what's funny. This is probably one of the easiest music videos to create that they've done thus far

I'd guess that "Here it Goes Again" was the hardest one for them to make. It took tons and tons of takes to get done right (and even then one of them almost fell at a part) and they were on their own with producing the thing.
God, this is one of my favorite songs from them, at least in the top three. I appreciate their music because lyrically it syncs with me on a lot of songs, even if they are different in terms of the actual content of the music. But beyond that, they're also great at making music videos, which makes it just as good. They just keep on doing crazier and crazier things.
Also, i love how Dan (green guy) keeps on faceplanting in the BTS video:

also i love how pretty much every single one of their videos are just giant advertisements which is how they get the money to do them and yet nobody cares

There's probably a few clever edits in there. It doesn't say that clever use of cuts aren't allowed. I'm almost certain that at around 2:05 when the suitcase flies in front of the camera there's a cut.
Not saying it's not amazing work, but still. I very highly doubt it's one continuous take you're seeing.
these guys are so fucking gr8 with their videos god damnnnn

I Won't Let You Down would've been fairly hard as well, they said they spent over a month doing it and at the start of the video you can see the clapper says take 127.
