Compressing GMod footage from FRAPS with VirtualDub

I'm preparing to compress a raw AVI I recorded from Garry's Mod with FRAPS. Right now my plan is to make an MP4 file using VirtualDub, with ffdshow and the Xvid codec, but I've never put this level of work into compressing footage before, and there's a lot of settings to fiddle with. Has anyone used VirtualDub for this before, and if so, would you know what sort of settings I could stick with? If it helps, the raw footage is 9 seconds of 800x600 video, recorded at 30fps. The file is 122 MB, and I wasn't planning to use the uncompressed video in my editing software, both because it'd probably make rendering take longer, and because I want to save space on the hard drive.
EDIT: Should this go under GMod > Help and Support instead? Maybe an admin can move it. I just asked here because it's something to do with video.
wrong section, use google
Yeah, I kinda figured that out after the first 'dumb' mark. Sorry to waste the time of everyone browsing threads, this one can be deleted/closed/whatever happens to pointless threads. I'd rather it didn't destroy my credibility here before I've even built up any.
