I'm not even mad anymore, just disappointed.
jk I'm pretty mad they're still trying to sell this notion.
That damage control.
Also love the blond chick pumping her fist after looking zoned out the whole clip.
People aren't saying we can't have female ghostbusters, people are saying the remake just looks like shit and something that wasn't really needed. Stop making it into a sex thing, it's because the movie just looks bad.
No one is saying we can't have female ghostbusters,
But... there are people saying it though
theres a group of people who think females can not be funny in acting at all and have been vocal about it
i agree im not too excited for the movie, but its not an insignificant amount of people who hate the idea that they are female

Like, legit. This is hands down the biggest reason I hate the new movie. It's not because of women, I couldn't care less. If they had some shitty male actors, the reaction would be identical. The producers are just shitting on the old movies with this and people are assuming it's because the actors are females now. If you're this fucking ignorant and just pull the sexism card, you can go eat cement.

That's irrelevant because the majority are people men/women black/white/etc that think the movie is going to be shit because it looks like shit.
Who cares, it's Jimmy "I'm just a shittier Conan wannabe" Kimmel. For all we know he was paid to keep the "people who hate this movie are all anti-feminist" angle going.

Hence my edit, but the majority of people I have heard talking about the movie is mainly because the humor looks stupidly shoehorned in and "Look at this wackiness". I'm sure there are people out there who do use that argument but I have seen and heard more people talk about how the movie just looks plain bad.
Wonder when the "People Are Really Mad Sony Threatened Litigation on Bill Murray For His Appearance" and "People Are Really Mad Sony Kicked Around Ghostbusters 3 Since the Release of 2 But Only Jumped on the Bandwagon when Marvel Started Their Extended Universe" videos are going up on this channel.

This is Kimmel though, unless you're referencing something from the video.

a minority is not the same as no one at all
People are mad and for a damn good reason. They ruined a great movie by remaking it into an abomination. Replace women with men and you'd still get absolute cow dung as long as script remained the same.
a minority is not the same as no one at all
What exactly is your point.
If there is one person out of 1000 that is against fox hunting because they want to fuck foxes does that mean that the other 999 people are invalidated?

huh? i never said any criticism of the movie is invalid, (i think thats what your uh, metaphor was alluding to) i was just saying that there are some people who do in fact hate the movie because they're female lol
johnfishers post said no one, i just wanted to say that there are people who do
This is Kimmel though, unless you're referencing something from the video.
No I accidentally said the wrong last name. Fixed my post.
I'm trying to remember if Ghostbusters was a sci-fi film or a sci-fi/comedy film. Sure there were some good laughs and Bill Murray, but was it enough to call it one? Oh well, might as well spend my ticket money to see the original film in theaters this month.
Oh and my comment on the matter is pretty much what JohnFisher said. I'm open with a female cast, but from what we are seeing it's a shit comedy with bottom of the barrel humor with ONE good joke spoiled in the second trailer.
So they're calling the fans of the original Ghostbusters angry little shitheads who live in their mother's basements?
Way to show your love for the original.
I hate this so much I can't even. What is it with American late night hosts being pretty solid until it gets into anything internety? I remember way back when Stephen Colbert had Anita Sarkeesian on and his interview with her was pretty him strawmanning the people who disagree with her and kissing her arse the entire time. Say what you want about that shit surrounding the women herself, but that's a pretty terrible way to introduce a discussion to a wider audience. Kimmel has already done it himself by insulting the literal millions of people that watch online gaming content.

Ghost busters was a lighthearted sci-fi tongue and check movie where everyone kind of knew it wasn't suppose to be taken too far serious or too much of a comedy. Much like Top Gear, the combination of the actors hired worked well in a light hearted fashion, these actors I have no idea who they are.
What is one of the most turnoff's to this movie is the fact they are apparently abandoning that method that worked so well before and trying to be "HEY LOOK WE ARE WACKY! CAN'T YOU SEE IT IS FUNNY?!?!", method. The other thing that puts me off to this movie is any criticism that the movie gets is spinned to "oh you're mad because all female cast".
Oh, I hate this shit. People don't criticize your work because you're gay/straight/female/male/trans/black/white/whatever. People will criticize your work first and foremost based on the quality of your work. And, if your work is shit, and people say you work is shit, maybe, just maybe, your work is just plain shit, and it's not because you're different.
personally i think taking already-existent properties (especially ones that had been dead for some time) and re-doing it but with women is doing a disservice to women in general. instead of going out and creating something new and great in its own right its like they jump onto the coattails of something that had men in it. to me, it looks like they're (meaning those involved with the creation of this film) dependent on the previous success of something that had men in it and are not confident enough to do something independent and possibly successful in its own right.
I'm not mad they're female.
I'm mad it looks stupid and everything I've heard about it has been nothing but terrible news.
[editline]9th June 2016[/editline]
also I love how Jimmy doesn't realize that the original stars were possibly harassed into being in the film

I mean I'm kinda mad a movie can get away with making having a female cast its gimmick and be called progressive, when in my opinion it's actually kind of the opposite. Like doesn't "haha look at us we're women where men should be" seem kinda sexist to women to you?

For each retarded idea there's a "group" that think that idea is true and will rabidly defend it, that's not the point.

Sexist people exist, but they're not some sort of club. There are genuine criticisms to the way the new Ghostbusters has been handled, from their dismissal of said criticism as literally just sexist people being sexist, to the having an all female cast as a gimmick being sexist to women in itself, and of course the fact that the trailers were basically Adam Sandler level of comedy.

There's also a group out there who thinks the black woman in the remake deserve to be hung on a tree and have her family executed.
But we don't listen to sexists and racists. Just pretend they don't exist and one day they'll fuck off when their gene pools slowly dilute.
[editline]9th June 2016[/editline]
I mean, they can be mad all they want. But they're wrong.

Not damage control, marketing.

Sony isn't hoping to get fans of the originals in theater seats, as they're smart enough to know most fans are aware of what Ghostbusters 3 went through production hell for decades. They're doing the smartest thing and 1) getting people good and angry about their product, so they will go to the theater and complain about how bad the movie is and 2) putting the "battle of the sexes" spin on it, so people can do their marketing for them as they spit venom and claim misogyny on anyone who is willing to criticize it.

Seriously, when we people understand that acting like women working in a job men might be normally thought of doing is just as sexist towards women as assuming that only a man can do that job?
Could you imagine if every doctor who was a women was not "Dr. Jones" but "Women Dr. Jones Who is a Women, Did I Mention That Women Dr. Jones is a Women"?
Like many others said here:
It's a shitty gimmick wrapped up in an all female cast that uses archetypes that make it more hilarious, racist and sexist as it is.
Oh the black woman's from the inner city, how original.
The fucking scum-duggery that Sony has been using to try to foist an appearance and market people into going (and demonizing those that don't), as well as other factors such as Sony trying to sue Bill Murray only shows on how bad it's likely to be.
I don't want to touch it at all. But it's getting pretty annoying as fuck for them to be touting the feminist-slash-misogyny angle all the time, and paying talk-show hosts to do it too.
