I know they are working on a Remaster of 2, but I would die if we got a remaster of 3. RE 3 is my fav out of the entire series. I spent countless hours playing it, Mercenaries mode added a lot of replay-ability.
Nemesis made me shit my pants several times. Plus the options were a bit panic inducing.
For me it has and always will be RE2. Spent so much time in the game that I taught myself how to edit the textures and such so that I could import custom characters or play as others.
For me I've always been torn. Resi 2 had the A and B routes and had a ton of replayability, as well as being one of the most legendary sequels in gaming history in my opinion. Nemesis had the titular villain with his "Shit your britches or fight response" when he randomly appears, some pretty cool locations (loved the Clock Tower, wished it was longer) and what many fans considered, and still consider today to be the true sequel of the PS1 trilogy as it directly continues Jill's storyline. The dodge and turn mechanic was the game changer though, and I realized how much I missed it after going back to 2.
After watching the video, it makes me want the RE2 remake even more. But for now I'll have to satisfy myself with the L4D2 maps.
This was the first Resident Evil game i played. I did at a friends house and it gave me nightmares afterwards. i suffered the memories of the zombies and their sounds, the notion of being eaten alive was ridiculously frightening. One night i went to my parents room because i couldnt bare it.
Apart from that, it was a blast, the way it made its gameplay with story decisions though never came to my mind as "new" but that was because i thought the elder RE games were like this and i was jumping onto the hype wagon later, and assumed it was common. Now that i can see it was a pinnacle on its own series makes lots of sense.
The moment that scared me the most was at some screen where you could see a bunch of zombies trapped in a fence for a big chunk of the beginning, until one random backtracking triggered an event where they would bring the fence down. My friend screamed in panic and hold the game in pause for days.

Also, those damn cinematics where horrifying. Not only the events that it would show but the style and uncanny valley was disturbing. Just the intro was brutal alone.
I always liked RE 3 more because the majority of it took place in Raccoon City. In RE2, they give you a small taste of the city in the beginning, then you're stuck in the police station and the underground labs for the rest of the game.

This could be me, the game gave me horrific nightmares as a child but I HAD to keep playing it.
For me, it was when Nemesis jumps through the window in the Police Station and starts slowly chasing you around mumbling "SSSSTAAARRRRSS...."

Theres full campaigns available for RE2 A and B and RE3. I'm sure its old news to a lot of players, but I just recently discovered them and am having a blast playing through them. They have a lot of attention to detail too, huge props to the mappers.
I think another reason why RE3 can get so tense is the fact that you're confined to tight alleyways and streets for a good chunk of the game. And when Nemesis appears towering over you, he can easily take up every inch of space needed to run by him and escape. Whereas RE1 and 2 had their respective locations with large halls and rooms, RE3 gets the claustrophobia award.

I remember me, my brother and 2 other friends all afraid to come down the stairs and pass through the window for that exact same reason. It was panic inducing.

Resident evil 3 did a good job of throwing the aspect of the entire city being over-ran by zombies in your face, also add the fact that the well-equipped RPD force was overran, then the fact that UBCS was overwhelmed by zombies and had internal forces working against the group too.
Game did a good job of making you feel lonely in a gigantic space, the zombies around every corner and allyway make you really think about what areas you cut through and where to backtrack. Add that on top of having a monster B.O.W chasing you and getting more powerful each fight.
Gonna try it right now, holy shit.
I remember the day Nemesis followed me into a save room. Everything changed.
