I don't believe it's bad enough at all to dumb down our story, and I think you're exaggerating especially when most popular Machinima out there are made with Halo where the characters heads bob up and down.
Nothing against Halo Machinima. But my point being is that Machinima is about story and not eye candy.
Maybe Machinima overall Isn't for you?
