I hated the Harriers while I was in the Navy. The first time I saw them do this it was cool, but then I realized that they fly right over my CIWS every time they land, so they made maintenance a pain in the ass.

Why was maintenance a pain in the ass? I'm guessing the harrier's thrust might have been a bit dangerous...
we weren't supposed to do maintenance while they were flying, so we basically had to schedule everything around the flight schedule which always changed and interfered with our maintenance. There were times where we HAD to troubleshoot the system during flight quarters when we were in hostile seas, so we would have to grab our test equipment and run inside every time an aircraft landed.
Harriers are so fucking loud when your standing near one in real life.
