The aircraft has a "harpoon" which includes a "beak" to hold it to a steel grid on the flight deck. The harpoon also pulls the helicopter to the flight deck with hydraulic force. It also has a special characteristic where the blades can go to negative pitch; effectively pushing the helicopter down onto the flight deck (once it has landed). The Lynx is also equipped with a unique wheel-lock system which are better than brakes. And finally, the deck is painted with non-skid paint
You can see the "Harpoon" at the end of the video; under the helo's belly, it grabs onto the deck and holds it there. Really really cool, and the pilot has some mad skills too.

Pilot's got balls of steel.
I would think getting out and walking on that thing would be quite a challenge in itself. roll off the side of the ship in that kind of weather.

Doesn't the Eurocopter Dauphin have autopilot that does kind of the same thing? Except it keeps it in a hover above the deck so it can do a hot refuel (refuel but without landing)
