Most states banned automatic weapons, you can still buy ak 47's actually but they are only semi auto, if you're able to get a license you can still get fully autos i belive.

Maybe because the gun was on fire.
He built the gun and his license was about to expire, and since no one wanted to buy it, he lit the gun on fire and shot it until it wouldn't function anymore.
It didn't catch fire from being shot so much.
That was a bit scary to watch.

The ak47 isn't a legendary gun anymore. Modern guns are so much better.
It's just an iconic and famous gun.
And the AK-47 is horribly inacurate.
