I wish they didn't change the announcer or the gun sounds though. Oh and the popup UI is eh.
The new UI looks like shit and that alone is probably a reason for me to not play it. I can still play the original. I thought this would be a graphics improvement, not needlessly changing the UI.
the original's UI isn't great either
Well, it isn't yellow text and silver icons. So it's better for me. Maybe, just a matter of taste, but this just looks worse to me.
The announcer VAs are awful.
Why doesnt it show ammo in current mag? wasnt that a thing in the original?
Why doesnt it show ammo in current mag? wasnt that a thing in the original?
It didn't. Infact, the general ammo text was smaller in the original too. The UI is further in the corners now, but also a lot more sleek, like something out of the later CoD games. People are saying the gun sounds are derived from Advanced Warfare, but I stopped playing the games after the first Black Ops so I have no idea on that one. I can recognize the old maps, and appreciate that they didn't fill it up with killstreak rewards from the sequels, but something just seems off about it in comparison to the original game.
Why doesnt it show ammo in current mag? wasnt that a thing in the original?
It does, in the form of the bullet icons next to the total count. That's how it was before too.
They changed the killstreak reward animations so you don't use a C4 detonator to call everything in any more. 10/10, best Remaster ever. Seriously though, the UI is a little annoying. Just how big the pop ups are and how they're in the centre of the screen. The other stuff being moved more to the edges is good, they should have moved the pop-ups away from the centre too. Also, what the fuck is up with the announcers? The American guy is so cheery it's a little creepy, and the OpFor announcer is a bad stereotype, it sounds like they got some American who has "Middle Easterner voice actor for Family Guy" in their CV.
It does, in the form of the bullet icons next to the total count. That's how it was before too.
im fucking blind but why cant they stick to numbers? simple and more easy to keep up with imo
Jeez, listening to it more, the weapons are flaccid as fuck now. CoD4 never had Battlefield tier weapon sounds, but they at least had some bass to them. Now it's like listening to someone bang a plastic container in the next room.
The gun sounds are horrible, how did they mess that up?
im fucking blind but why cant they stick to numbers? simple and more easy to keep up with imo
Because that's how the Modern Warfare games did it, before later games starting with Black Ops went back to a more standardized numbers setup like the older games.
I thought this was supposed to be a remaster? The new UI is really tacky and the medal spam is insane. I'd rather play the original to be honest.
If they get rid of the medal spam, don't change the snipers too much and strafe jumping is still a thing, I'd play it.
The gun sounds are horrible, how did they mess that up?
It seems like they've just shoved it on the new engine and used all the crappy gun sounds they've been using since.
what are you guys saying the gun sounds are literally copy paste the original source: 4000 hours of cod4
Well, it isn't yellow text and silver icons. So it's better for me.
actually yeah, the original was yellow text and silver icons old new
I thought it might have been green. The shade of yellow is better in the original as well as the font. The icons are more white than silver and clearly defined. The old style was perfectly fine, changing it to a newer CoD style wasn't what I wanted out of a remaster. In the end, it's just a preference thing.
honestly the medal system should of not been introduced and if it had to be introduced, not as annoying as that why couldn't of they at least gone with a MW2 approach where it tells you what you've done but doesn't distract you away from the gameplay, it doesn't fit with the whole aesthetic at all happy to see they left the original kill streaks and all but something about this UI and announcer sounds off Also the game really looks like they just ported it to the MW2 engine, it doesn't look much different from mw2
They had one fucking job. They ruined all of what made COD 4 so simple by cluttering the HUD with bullshit.
They had one fucking job. They ruined all of what made COD 4 so simple by cluttering the HUD with bullshit.
To be honest, it's actually less cluttered by default. It's lacking a large XP bar at the bottom, and more of the UI was centered and focused closer together. The big problem is the kill notifications and the medals that keep hogging up screen estate all over the place.
Have the upped the fire rate on all of the weapons or is it just my imagination? I remember the ak47 being a lot slower firing
the heads up display is a pretty large improvement over the original IMO, excluding the medals

The main aspects of the HUD are fine, but the new stuff they added that were not in the original and utterly redundant.
wow why does these guns have such silent gun firing sounds don't like the announcer also
Not a huge fan of the announcer, everything else is fine.
I wonder if they're gonna remaster MW2 next time.
The announcers are a shame, but I'm otherwise excited.
