So he liked the shooting, but the character(s?) and story are bad, eh?
Lol as always yatz delivers good info in a humorous way.
his complaints about forced/trying-too-hard writing doesn't acknowledge the fact the entire series is a satire of that exact style of writing that is inherent in cheesy film noir

Since when was Max Payne satire?
Since when was Max Payne satire?
It has ALWAYS been satire.
The part about [sp]why have Max Payne take the fall and not someone else, foreigners are easier to blame anyway. Nobody likes them[/sp]

[sp]They could've just chosen a foreigner who isn't a one man army who has slaughtered tons of thugs, assassins and crime bosses[/sp]

[sp]Not the only drunk murderer on the planet[/sp]

I don't think that really holds up for 3. From what I heard of the story and dialogue it seems like the developers forgot it was satire.
I kind of agree with him. The story was a bit out of place.

Well if they didnt pick him then there wouldn't be much of a game right now...

Well the bad guys didn't think about if there would be a video game based on it when they were choosing someone.

When you replay the first two, they are serious, but at the same time poke fun at the style of narrative.
So in a way satire, but not completely I would say.

And it's trying too hard. Like in that room where you shut off the valves for the burning fuel.
I didn't even realize that there was a Max Payne 2. I remember that Max Payne was serious, and even surreal when [sp]he was tripping and started running around a haunted version of his house and had to run on a maze of blood trails, in which falling off would cause him to fall into an abyss.[/sp]
It wasn't satire but more that it just had humor in between the serious/plot stuff like sitting around watching a show about a flamingo on a television in Max Payne 1 or the easter egg where you fight rats in bullet time if you threw a grenade in that hole in the first level or so. The MC himself just cracked jokes and was hard-boiled (like the game difficulty option).
