I kinda liked it.
what the fuck did i just watch
Women listen to pop music, Men listen to rock.
Hey fuck you buddy.
what the fuck did i just watch
MTV putting a movie on their channel discussing how things they've enforced for 30 years are actually bad.
There is something very wrong with MTV nowadays.
what the fuck did i just watch
Testosterone Shaming.
The scream at 1:34 is killing me, what the fuck
he's trying to hide his real sexuality it was quite obvious he was interested in that one guy
The scream at 1:34 is killing me, what the fuck
From Toho Pictures. Gonadzilla (2017)
This should be called "american frat bro"
Hey, MTV. Could you, you know, fucking go back to Music Videos or just rename yourself if you just want to air everything else?
I shouldn't have watched this, now youtube is gonna recommend me these gay nu short films. also idk about the stereotype that men don't play string instruments, i'd say the guitar is 'mans favorite instrument' because 'all men like rock' and its portable, cheap, probably even easier to play.
lmao at the entire comment section missing the point
People willingly choose to take part in this behavior and it's kinda silly to make a 'moving' short about how 'society shaped them into something society approves'
lmao at the entire comment section missing the point
holy fuck why did you make me look at the comments. I don't understand how some people can be so insufferable
People willingly choose to take part in this behavior and it's kinda silly to make a 'moving' short about how 'society shaped them into something society approves'
I think there's a decent number of people who do a lot of stupid bullshit to maintain an image of masculinity, and would be pretty different and more personally developed had they followed their own interests rather than the interests of the crowd. Frat boys in particular. It's not really an epidemic by any stretch of the imagination, though. And to be fair, this kind of thing would resonate with the male viewers of MTV, a channel filled with shows that are seen as girly.
Why would a tv channel in todays world air music videos ehen all the labels put them out on youtube for free on demand
All the more motivation to change it, much like how TNN became Spike, notably because it's base programming was no longer Country variety television and music.
MTV putting a movie on their channel discussing how things they've enforced for 30 years are actually bad.
The pop stars that tell young girls to be themselves and try to inspire individuality are the same ones that are sold to trendy magazines that idealize standards of beauty in women.
I kinda liked it.
sweden yes
This is not a trailer. You tricked me.
Should have used this for the music.
People willingly choose to take part in this behavior and it's kinda silly to make a 'moving' short about how 'society shaped them into something society approves'
Gender roles are cults that people are indoctrinated into at early ages. While there is some choice involved, you would have to be daft to not understand how "choice" is already horribly implicated by societal expectations and our socialization.

This whole short stinks of "hey he's a frat guy but actually gay" vibe from the start, this is not a new story MTV. Sometimes I dread that I live in the same town as the Canadian HQ.
I thought this was a good short film that briefly highlighted some of the social pressure placed on a lot of men to be masculine in order to fit in. Seems a lot of people are very upset by this. Anybody care to explain?

If you've personally never experienced these social pressures or have really interacted with those who have, it's kind of hard to relate to them. This guy is a perfect example:
People willingly choose to take part in this behavior and it's kinda silly to make a 'moving' short about how 'society shaped them into something society approves'
I love how people don't get that it isn't about shaming being masculine but instead shaming the stigma that you have to act a certain way. The video made a pretty clear point, the main dude was interested in another man but because of the party society he lives in he feels forced to live according to said societies standards. The video pretty clearly tries to be anti-stereotype which is why the dialogue blatantly stats said stereotypes while visually the opposite happens. having to act a certain way because of gender/race/etc is stupid and everyone who thinks that you have to act X way because your Y gender is fucked in the head Gosh I'm sorry that being [THING] doesn't fit into your delicate stereotypes maybe piss off and let people act like who they want to be But of course a huge people didn't get the point of the video because they would rather sit comfortably in their echo chambers and create wild and insane conspiracy theories to justify their delusional head canon of the world. That all being said it isn't wrong to be masculine if that's who you are. But the point is, it's not wrong to NOT be masculine either. It's not anti-white, anti-male, anti-anything.• [editline]27th September 2016[/editline]
Hey, MTV.
